Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
Had to deliver some paper work to my insurance agent.

Several entrances in the bank building, he on 4th floor.

I pick closest, which is also entrance to a suburban bank in Tulsa Ok.

I was wearing navy blue shorts, white adidas UMKC college shirt (The Roos) and a black, blue, white Mazda ball cap.

I walk in lobby, immediately I hear a voice..."Sir, remove your hat"
I am looking for an elevator, totally unaware the voice is directed at me..I ignore it.

again I hear a little louder, with more urgency
"Please remove your hat"

I see a receptionist, figured a flag was at half mast or something, remove my hat for a couple seconds, see the elevator, put it back on.

Another receptionist, asks me to take it off, I do and say "I am just looking for the offices of my insurance agent"

Feeling totally dazed I stand there...She points at elevator and tells me "If you have been robbed, you would understand." "also we have people remove dark sunglasses" (I had none on)

I shrugged my shoulders, shake my head in dis-belief, put cap on, and quickly got on elevator.

I usually have a comeback, but let it slide.

I am 64+, 172 lbs, grey brown goatee, of good old Austrian-Hungarian stock, just got my medicare card , and I stand 5'8'' on a day when my bad back allows it; hardly a menacing figure.

After my business (briefly wished I was single, my agents assistant was a single VERY friendly flirty mid 40's looker)

I left thru a different exit...

For the life of me, I can not understand that if there WAS an issue, there would have been a VERY big sign at the entrance....I saw NO visible security, not even a half asleep rent a cop....

I guess the world is as totally messed up as I hear on the news, when they start profiling Seniors.

What's the big deal, take your damn hat off.....Their building, their rules.....

Had a guy drop by my mothers house the other night about 7:30....She lives in a isolated area only two other houses on the road....No car in site, this guy walks past the steps and goes up on the deck looking out over the water....I open the door and ask him what he's doing, he laughs and says he's with the Maine Coalition and quickly stuffs his hand in his pocket....

At this point he's about 5 feet away as I'm at the screen door....I say please take your hand out of your pocket, he laughs and say why....Again, please take your hand out of your pocket, I don't know you or what you're up to....He takes his hand out slowly and jams it back in as I open the screen....He tosses a set of car keys on the ground as I have my fist drawn....He says see, just car keys.....I tell him to pick his fucking car keys up and get off my property....He challenges me and I chase him off the steps....

Long story short, my property, my house, my rules......Same as at a business.....:0008

I don't think this is 'profiling'. I'm guessing they would have had the same interaction with anyone that walked in with a hat and didn't adhere to their request right away. Now whether their 'rules' of no hats was properly posted/declared is another issue I guess.

Did he have any business to conduct or was he up to no good?

If there was a sign

If there was a sign

I would have respected that, " For security reasons, please remove Hat and or Dark Sunglasses".

Actually it was more the attitude...I am not 2 years old.

Being it was a 4 story building, with many offices and common space, I consider that a public location...last I saw, we still have the right to wear a ball cap in public.

Just don't treat someone as a potential criminal, I could have been an eccentric Bazillionaire there to open a huge investment account.

End of rant, tough getting old and apparently out of touch with todays realities.:mj16:

On the course!
So, basically, you got a 'case of the ass', and it blinded you to what the teller was informing you?

It is not uncommon, and hasn't been for quite a while now, for banks to have people remove shades and caps. The bank I use in Florida won't even buzz you in if you have a cap/shades. I'm also guessing there IS a sign somewhere at the entrance to that bank you were at.

If the teller was salty, I understand your ire. But, you need to take that out of the equation, after the fact.

Take care.

Eight-year-old Mohammad entered his classroom on the first day of school.

"What's your name?" asked the teacher.

"Mohammad," he replied.

"You're in Ireland now," replied the teacher, "so from now on you will
be known as Frank."

Mohammad returned home after school.

"How was your day, Mohammad?" his mother asked.

"My name is no longer Mohammad. I'm in Ireland now and my name is Frank."

"What?" she said. "Are you ashamed of your name? Are you trying to
dishonor your parents, your heritage, your religion? Shame on you!"
And his mother beat him.

Then she called his father, who beat him again.

The next day when Mohammad returned to school the teacher saw all of
his bruises.

"What happened to you, Frank?" she asked.

"Well shortly after becoming Irish I was attacked by two friggen Arabs."
