Wow --didn't take long for Trench to try and change that subject. :)

Lets put this tax question in a non political light without pointing fingers at either party.

The big question--what are consequences of ramped up spending and diminished tax revenues.

It can't continue without our interest on debt exceeding revenue at some point in time.

In past its always been raise taxes. The question is where do they raise them.

Despite thinking- tax the rich as will piss fewer voters off--the rich will avoid most of it.

So I have to think - which taxes can not be avoided or reduced by tax professionals --and can think of only one. Property taxes.

I believe within next 20 years owning property may almost be a liabilty.

The boomers and retired have most of personal wealth--so how does Uncle Sam tap that wealth--property tax and tax on services (utilities-phone-internet) etc.

Would say within 10 years at least 1/2 your phone bill will be taxes vs 20% now.

I think the estate tax is coming back at the end of the year, so maybe those old rich guys that everybody hates will finally pay their fair share. [/SARCASM]

Ooooohhhh... that's where you're wrong John Kenneth Budweiserbreath.

A consumption tax (combined with spending cuts) would not only eliminate our budget deficit, it would create huge budget surpluses and allow us to erase the National Debt in one generation.

I am all for the consumption tax. If I buy it tax me . Let me make those tax decisions.

Then we could get rid of the IRS ?

Exactly Scotty. Economists all know this but politicians won't even broach the subject of a consumption tax because they know it's political suicide. They know most Americans are of the opinion (and rightfully so) that government created the National Debt problem so let them solve it.

The problem is there simply is no other way out of a $13 Trillion hole. So, there we are.

Your speaking of the liberal VAT tax.

You mean like the one Euro's have for years to go along with their social entitlements.

psst DUH

according to your opinion--they should have surpluses

according to the facts--they are on verge of bankruptcy.

You need to spend more time reading current events and less running that spell check--

Yes, unfortunately your Budweiser would be taxed, so would your subsription to NASCAR magazine and your professional wrasslin' tickets.

Do you know a way out of a $13 Trillion hole that economists don't? :0corn

So if paying a couple extra bucks for your next monster truck rally ticket is too much of a burden on you, then stop complaining about budget deficits and debt. Scotty & I are willing to do our part. But like a typical Republican, you're more interested in flapping your gums than real solutions.

OOOPS Scott almost forgot about you.

--a little more on "your list" and didn't want to corrupt thread in general.

If you really want to do search and look for this fictional thread I might suggest you look in 2008.

Cause as you can see--if you do google search of "Obama achievement list"--you won't find anything in with date of 2010 on 1st page--even the liberals are embarrassed. :)

Thought the UK answers was pretty good--maybe you could repost all achievements the Euro's listed. :)
