I can see where she must not know how to play but how do you get a penalty for checking the nuts:shrug:

Lady Penalized, Patronized

An unfortunate lady was taken aside by a floorman who most apologetically explained to her that she was being penalized for checking the nuts. "You see, you had the best hand possible, so if someone bets you have to raise and if someone checks you have to bet, you have to create action. See, if you don't, then it's more like a home game, with everyone just checking and all friendly..." The lady in question looked suitably patronized, and was issued her penalty on top of that.

it's a tournament rule that protects other players from collusion.

I ain't no poker expert, but that has to be bullshit. If you have a Royal Flush you can check, raise, call or fold. They are your cards you can do what you want.

I mean how can anybody say you can't check, I mean that makes no sense.

you can check/raise but you can't check when it's checked to you. what would be the point other than save the other player money?

Collusion huh, I still think that's crap. I mean they are your cards, you should be able to do what you want.

But madjack knows more about poker then me, so guess I'll go with him.

Stupid rule though.

I understand what you are saying Jack, but if the point is to protect collusion then there are other ways. That's all I'm saying.

I've checked out hands dozens of times with players... Didn't know this was a rule...

Several times in a low chip stack all in and two additional players. Me being on of the two not all in...

Is that not legal by these rules?

kickserv... the rule only comes into effect after the river card has been dealt.

the ONLY reason you would check behind with the nuts once all the cards are out is collusion.

My point is simply that there are 100's of ways collusion can take place at a poker table, I just don't think that rule should exist. I mean it doesn't really serve a purpose. Although marine and madjack know more about Poker then I do, so guess I am wrong.

Plus it is possible that a player DOES NOT know they have the nuts. They win the hand and then they get penalized, not right, not right.

The rule is silly, but hey lots of silly rules in life:cool:
