First, all of the sponsors have pulled out of the tournament a while back at Hootie Johnson's request. Rather than have them suffer the abuse of Ms. Burk's strongarm tactics, Mr. Johnson just told his advertisers that Augusta National would go it alone this year and took them off the hook - a gentlemanly thing to do. Second, I read in this morning's paper that Tiger is going to play. Third, Jesse Jackson was complaining about the editorial in the NY Times because he says it's undue pressure on Woods, that Nicklaus was never asked not to play at Augusta when they had no black members.
The latest I heard was that Ms. Burk is now targeting the network itself for broadcasting the Masters. I forget which network carries the Masters, but whoever it was said they were going to broadcast regardless of the pressure. I also read in today's paper that Jesse Jackson and Ms. Burk are planning demonstrations outside the golf course during the Masters.
So, Ms. Burk has decided to dictate to a private club who they can or cannot have in their organization. Jesse Jackson has decided to join in since the cameras will be readily available during the Masters and he hasn't had any serious face time on national TV in a while. And the rest of us will have to listen to the incessant harping of this shrew as our rights of free association are further withered away by folks like herself who feel they know what is best for everyone.
I hope that Hootie Johnson continues to tell this bitch where to get off. I'll never see any part of Augusta National but I don't really give a damn, it's their club, they can do what they want. But I am exceedingly tired of listening to the nefarious whinings of people like Ms. Harp who think they have the right to meddle in the affairs of private organizations in the name of political correctness.
Just my humble opinion.
