Really, I'm done. I haven't been paid. I can't keep spending money for nothing. I'm willing to give you that floor on the sample at no extra charge. But, I want to be paid. We will clean everything up like new when we have completed the job.

Oh man! I am shaking.

I was talking, well texting, with one of my installers about a customer we have that is being very difficult. I copied a text that the wife sent me and sent it to him. Then I said to him, "Fuck those people, they picked that floor, you hit it perfectly with the color and they are going to take it like it is. Fuck them!"

I made a mistake and sent it to the homeowner.

HOLY SHIT, I'M IN BIG TROUBLE WITH THESE PEOPLE NOW.

How the hell am I going to smooth THAT over?Christ, I'm shaking here and scared that my phone is going to beep any second.

Never talk behind someone's back, especially if they are holding a lot of your money. :nono:

I hate when that happens.

I feel for you. I always make a wisecrack about my boss just as he walks by my office. (he only walks by once a day) :shade:

Tough spot, Jack. I think your plan is good. My only advice is quit texting them and work it out on the phone. :0074

Sorry to hear this brother. I know the feeling. The worst is when they act like everything is fucking included. Last week I had people hold my check because their furniture was still in the garage, they wanted transition strips and new trim put in, I said sure we can do that. I will have to work up a cost for you but we can do it, would you like me to do that?

Yes, that would be great.

I hand them the separate bid for trim, transition strips and moving a household overstuffed with antique furniture. She sets it on the counter. Five days later she is asking me when I am going to come back and do the transition strips and furniture. I respond, "Oh did you want us to do that as well?"

"Well, yeah, isn't it included? We can't lift all that furniture." The husband then proceeds to tell me that there is "day labor available not five blocks away and I should just hire a couple of them and be done in two hours or so",

I couldn't believe it. I asked how their furniture became my responsibility and they answered that I moved it out, which I did because they didn't do it as asked and as written on the contract, and then played dumb like they never got the bid for furniture, trim and transition strips.

Now I am very clear about what is expected. Last floor I did I called and said, "We will be sealing your patio tomorrow, we will need to settle up at that time so please either meet me there and approve the final color or go by tonight or whatever, I don't care, just make sure there is a check there when I arrive or I won't seal it. It sounds fucked up I know, but most have no idea how many people try everything they can to fuck you out of the money they owe you.

Maybe you could state on the bid that at midway point of the project, 50% of total bill needs to be collected to cover the costs of materials, Ect....
The balance upon completion of the project.

That would make too much sense Bay-toni.

Maybe you should just text Jack with the suggestion? I mean, it's obvious he is text knowledgable.
