-- The Philadelphia Phillies are looking into further use of Taser guns after a police officer shocked a teenage fan who ran onto the field Monday.

The fan hopped a fence and scurried around the outfield, eluding two security officers late in the game against the St. Louis Cardinals. One officer used a Taser and the fan went down in a heap.

The Phillies say the police department is investigating the matter and discussing with the team whether it's appropriate use of force under similar circumstances.

The teams says it's the first time a Taser has been used by police to apprehend a spectator who ran onto the field. The Phillies say the fan was 17-year-old male and he will be charged with criminal trespass and related offenses.

Perfect use of taser, imo.

What is expected of the security officers in this situation.

That behavior needs to be discouraged.

I don't know what a taser looks like when held but I have to imagine from the upper decks it looked like the officer was pointing a gun at the kid. I would love to see some video of this.

I have no problem with him using it. If you're stupid enough to run onto the field then you have to pay the price. :mj07:

seeing as the kid was OK... teh whole tasing part would actually be more of bonus if i were thinking about running onto the filed. i mean, who wants to get tackled by two gorilla like police/field personnel to end their once in a lifetime jaunt onto the field...when they can get tased!!!??? thats like two for the price of one. instead of jus tasing yourself for the experience in some friend's backyard, why not make it worth it (your tasing experience, that is).

my question is...how many of you guys out there have been tased? i'm taking over 6

I just find it odd that Adam Sandler has to resort to running onto the field to keep his name in the limelight.

I also wonder if he yelled out "Don't tase me, bro!"

Was at the game last night 10 rows off left field wall....tasing happened in left field...kid was waving a towel(looked like t-shirts) around and the crowd started to get loud.....so i was thinking they are gonna shoot shirts in the stands...i was mistaken:nono:

The kid looked like he was running in slow motion as well, just had good cutbacks, security should be ashamed of themselves for that...

But i'm glad a philly fan got tasered....there are more assholes that go to their games than anywhere else. they should start tasing some folks in the seats

Normally, I would be all over the cops as using excessive force in this situation when a fan runs of the field of play since we know that the use of a taser can be cause quite a bit of pain. However my experience with Philadelphia fans of any sport, I would find deadly force appropriate.
