What is funny about this video is that this was Bush and Cheney major platform they were running with for their 2nd term. I remember arguing with Dogs that home ownership grew every year and what Bush was taking as a major accomplishment, happen every year before this. Now all Republicans run like little school girls and are program to blame Barney Frank for the mess. It is truly amazing how they then take credit for something and then when it goes bad blame it on the other side. Clinton leaves a surplus and they give the credit to the Republican house. Bush destroys the economy and they say that it was the Clinton recession that started it. I don't know if they realize that everyone isn't as naive as them. They are either trying to pull the same wool over our eyes or they are just incredibly stupid and don't know a misleading talking point from their ass.

Looks like the PC police have threatened members of the House of Representatives against wishing constituents a "Merry Christmas," if they want to do so in a mailing paid for with tax dollars.

Members who submit official mailings for review by the congressional franking commission that reviews all congressional mail to determine if it can be "franked," or paid for with tax dollars, are being told that no holiday greetings, including "Merry Christmas," can be sent in official mail.

"I called the commission to ask for clarification and was told no 'Merry Christmas.' Also told cannot say 'Happy New Year' but can say 'have a happy new year' ? referencing the time period of a new year, but not the holiday," said a Hill staffer who requested anonymity.

Another Hill staffer told The Washington Examiner that "we were given that advice after submitting" a draft mailing.

Members of Congress send millions of dollars worth of mail to constituents every year but there are official rules that govern what can and cannot be said in those mailings. Members are barred, for example, from saying anything that might be construed as advocating their re-election.

But saying "Merry Christmas" is also not permitted, according to a Dec. 12 memo from the "Franking Commission Staff" concerning "Holiday Messaging." The memo explains:

Members are unable at the current time to use official resources to record holiday greetings, post on social media/website, or send to constituents in franked mail or e-communications.

Member?s Congressional Handbook: GREETINGS-

Expenses related to the purchase or distribution of greetings, including holiday celebrations, condolences, and congratulations for personal distinctions (wedding anniversaries, birthdays, etc.), are not reimbursable.?

Franking Manual:

4(a). Example of Nonfrankable Items
-Birthday, anniversary, wedding, birth, retirement or condolence messages and holiday greetings are prohibited.?

You may make reference to the season as a whole using language along the lines of 'Have a safe and happy holiday season.' It may only be incidental to the piece rather than the primary purpose of the communication."

A franking commission spokesman confirmed to The Washington Examiner that Members of Congress indeed cannot wish constituents "Merry Christmas" in any official mailing.

"Currently, incidental use of the phrase Happy Holidays is permissible but Merry Christmas is not," said Salley Wood.

So it's true, the elected representatives of the nation that puts "In God We Trust" on its currency are not permitted to use the greeting that has likely been uttered by every living adult American at least once in their lifetimes.

Just another demonstration that political correctness and freedom of speech, faith and thought are utterly incompatible.

UPDATE: Senators can say 'Merry Christmas'

Just got a response from the Senate Ethics Committee, which handles franking issues for the upper chamber. Looks like senators can say things congressmen can't because the Senate franking regulation say this:

"Senators may not use the frank to mail holiday cards. However, Senators may use officially related funds to mail holiday cards to constituents. Holiday cards to friends should be sent with personal funds, not using Senate facilities.

"Senators also may NOT use the frank to ac- knowledge holiday greetings that were sent to them. Senators may express holiday greetings at the commencement or conclusion of otherwise frankable mail."

Frankly it sounds like Nazi Germany in its heyday

for the atheists and muslims and all the others that dont like our majority Christmas you just have to say
a big hooty whoo.................

-- Afghan President Hamid Karzai has said that a rape victim freed from prison after he intervened on her behalf has the right to make her own choice about whether to marry her attacker.

In an exclusive interview from Kabul, Karzai told CNN's Fareed Zakaria that the woman's case appeared to be a "misjudgment" that had to be resolved.

The woman, identified only as Gulnaz for her own protection, was sentenced to 12 years in prison after she reported that her cousin's husband had raped her.

But the 21-year-old was freed this week following the president's intervention, and is now staying at a women's shelter in Kabul, with the daughter she conceived in the attack and gave birth to in prison.

Her plight attracted international attention when it came out that she had agreed to marry her attacker to gain her freedom and legitimize her daughter.

Karzai said he had convened a judicial meeting when he came aware of her case.

"The issue was discussed in detail, and the right inquiries made. We, on advice from the chief justice and the minister of justice, decided that this was a case, perhaps, of misjudgment and that it has to be resolved, and resolved by giving her a pardon immediately. That's what I did."

Jailed Afghan rape victim is freed Asked whether it was appropriate that Gulnaz should marry her attacker, as some in Afghanistan say, Karzai said it was her choice.

"It's up to her to decide who to marry or who not to marry," he said. "And Islam gives her that right."

Looking to the future, Karzai said the West should have confidence in Afghanistan's judicial processes after international forces withdraw.

"It's a country that has been troubled a lot. But it is also an old country, with laws and a penal code and judicial history," he said.

"I can assure you that, once the international forces are withdrawn and not as many as there are today, Afghanistan will neither go into a trouble within the country or strife or into miscarriage of justice. I can assure you of that."

After the attack two years ago, Gulnaz hid what happened as long as she could because she was afraid of reprisals. But then she began showing signs of pregnancy and, aged only 19, was found guilty by the courts of sex outside of marriage -- adultery -- and sentenced to 12 years in jail.

A key problem is that Afghan law fails to clearly distinguish between rape and adultery, which is a crime under Sharia, or Islamic law.

And despite the pardon, Gulnaz's future remains unclear in a conservative society where her ordeal is considered to have brought shame on her family.

She told CNN from prison last month that she was willing to marry her attacker in order to end her incarceration, though she did not want that option.

.................................................................

what country or religion in the world is as sick as this.

force someone to marry their rapist

lets think this one out

there has to be some kind of logic to this....

does it not fall under cruel and unusual punishment to put her jail in the first place.

wow

just wow

pity really  :popcorn2
