Hey guys, got a phone call from Cris tonight and a very close friend of his committed suicide over the weekend.

They served in the military together and if I understood Cris correctly he was one of the first to find the body.

His name was Steve McGann, lived in Keller, TX and was an Air Force veteran. He is survived by his wife Kim and their two daughters Melanie and Megan.

Cris is pretty distraught so if you are friends with him on Facebook you might drop a note of encouragement to him (or feel free to do so here).

In our discussion he mentioned setting up a fund for the girls. If anyone is interested in making a donation, feel free to contact me. You can get my information from Jack or one of the moderators.

Hello all,
First of all I want to thank Brent, for posting this for me. I have to agree, my friends and family have had a rough go this last year or so.
Just some information to pass along to all of us that think we have this shit figured out. Steve was born to a family in Milwaukee that locked him out of his house during elementary school. He was forced to move around from friend to friend's couches until he joined the military the day he graduated H.S. He matured into a great man and doing father. Unfortunately, his familial skills were limited due to obvious reasons. I am often reminded of the workhorse "Boxer" from Orwell's Animal Farm and his cure all motto of "I will work harder", which he applied to all situations he could not control or fix. He worked for everything he held dear and family was his only real dream. Abandonment was his only demon, whether real or imagined and ultimately it was that long buried demon that cashed a check he couldn't cover.
My friend is not here for me to tell him that I love him, that I miss him, and that it will all be okay. He's not here for me to tell him that today would be so much better if he were here to tell me to quit whining, so I tell you guys. I tell my Mom, my Daughter, his Goddaughter, that I am okay and will be fine, because I know this will pass, but it seems like thats all it is. One pass after the next. Hug em and hold em if you got em because they're all gone too fast.
God bless you all,

FDC
