NFL Referees Accused Of 'Rigging' Two Games On Sunday

NFL officiating crews for the following two games have come under question in a major way on Sunday afternoon:

  • Eagles vs. Giants
  • Ravens at Bears
NFL officiating, which has come under question for several years in a row now, has been under fire for its performance on Sunday. NFL fans have accused the refs in the Eagles vs. Giants game of "rigging" the contest, following a questionable no-fumble call on a "Tush Push" play.

FOX replay shows clear evidence that refs screwed Antoine Winfield Jr. out of a TD

We saw another example of that on Sunday, when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were robbed of a touchdown thanks to a phantom whistle.

Late in the second quarter, Antoine Winfield Jr. recovered a fumble forced by Jamel Dean and returned it for what appeared to be a touchdown. It would have made it a 14-0 game and swung serious momentum over to the Bucs.

However, the touchdown did not stand because of the "phantom whistle"

Referee Ron Torbert ruled that while the Bucs had indeed recovered a fumble cleanly, the play was blown dead by a whistle. This meant the play stopped when Winfield picked the ball up, not when he crossed the goal line.

We shouldn't swing the pendulum too far the other way, now. There will always be human error involved.

yyz.........phantom whistles and phantom flags happen all the time............that was my point, not this one incident. these refs have games under their control..........and they are crooked af.....imo "some" of these incendents go beyond human error.............

Winfield had 2 tds both called back with phantom whistles. Replays were showing it not sure why the quick review didn't overturn. plus you cznt hear the whistles on replay. Po Lease!!!
