I am in need of a good spinning rod - I have a penn battle 3000 reel (from a salt water combo) I bought at bass pro.

It's a good reel and I want to use it for catching bass.

I would like to throw a weightless worm or a plug type bait.

Thanks for your help. :0008

I like St. Croix, Falcon and All-Star for mid ranged and fairly priced rods. I use G-Loomis rods for everything but they are a primary sponsor. Bass Pro makes a decent rod now and they also will replace it if you break it. I think it comes down to what you are wanting to throw. The type of lures you are suggesting would put me at a 7' or more medium action with a fast tip.

I would not go shorter than 7' and would also adjust my hook set to a sweeping set rather than a hard ten to two set.

Hope that helps and answers your question,
FDC

Can your guy make a purple rod? I need an upgrade for bait casters.. Hint hint. You have anything you have in your arsenal you want to sell. I see you won $200 in for third in fantasy. I may need to hold as ransom lol.

Are you talking about the guy that I had make me that personalized Chicago Bears rod Trevor? I wouldn't do that again as I broke the blank on a hook set twice now since I talked to you about it and have cut ties. There was no way he was using Loomis blanks. I know that Loomis blanks break a bit more often than some of the broom stick manufacturers but not that easy.

I don't generally sell any of my Loomis'. I am really, really picky about my sticks and hang on to them as a habit. If I did or do sell one, Trevor,(bleedingpurple) would have first dibs. Not trying to upset anyone just not something I normally do.

Hope that helps,
FDC

Understand - what loomis would you recommend?

Loomis makes super sensitive and light rods that make a big difference in the wear and tear of tournament fishing. That is why I use them and swear by them, however, I know they are pricey as hell as compared to other top end rods. Depending on what you are throwing would drive my purchase. The seven foot crankbait rods are the best for any size cranks and light tackle. Wacky worms, finesse rigs, shallow water drop shot all work great on it. They aren't for flipping and pitching though. If I were going to buy one all purpose rod it would be a 7' medium heavy. GLX or IMX wouldn't sway me either way other than cost. I like the GLX due to the line guides but that is the only difference. They have a medium heavy spinnerbait rod as well that I like a lot but doesn't have the backbone the flipping stick does and you can throw a spinnerbait on a flipping rod as well. So too long explanation to get to 7' medium heavy flipping rod.

If this explanation does not give you a fishing hard on then nothing will. FDC, I am wanting to go fishing with you real soon. :0008I want to use a 7' whatever. Would love to show you the North GA trout streams as well if ever here for some Browns and Rainbows. Browns here are 4-6 lbs. Fun stuff. I will fly into DFW anytime.
