Bookmakers have opened USC as a 7 point favorite over Penn State. That kind of says a lot right there....
The argument wasn't that you get in if you win your conference. The argument from Big 10's one and only Delany was that if you don't win, you shouldn't be allowed in. Big difference from the forecast you tried to portray lol Or maybe you just misunderstood?
Either way, I don't think it should be a requirement, just find it funny he's changed his tune now that his conference stands to gain. I don't think you can sit here and say winning the conference championship means nothing, otherwise why do they even play them? Just a few years ago the NCAA told TCU the reason they were leapfrogged is because they didn't play in a conference championship because the BIG 12 didn't have one. Now that a team who has HUGE financial impact in the same situation, the NCAA chose to change their reasoning.
When in doubt or if it's close, it'll go where the $ goes. Had that been Michigan, Texas, Notre Dame, FSU, you get the point...instead of Penn State, you bet your ass they would've leapfrogged Washington lol
USC would be a 4 to 6 point favorite over Washington.Bookmakers have opened USC as a 7 point favorite over Penn State. That kind of says a lot right there....
Well if the argument was you needed to win the conf title game to get in, my final 4 matchups were possible as each were 1 more win away from being in the playoff.
Winning a conference title game is a 13th game and possible differentiation but if the goal is the 4 best teams then Penn state and Wisconsin had no chance unless wash and clem both lost.
If you let vegas rank the teams I'm not sure Penn state makes the top 10
USC would be a 4 to 6 point favorite over Washington.

Not so sure about that. I'd bet Wash all day at +4-6 against SC in a rematch. Hard to beat a Pac12 team twice in the same year and SC lost to Utah, Stan and Bama in a blowout. SC beat Colo by 4. Depending on location, it's a PK to 3 points plus or minus at best.....
USC went to Washington and absolutely dominated Washington. If USC played Colorado again, they'd be a 10+ point favorite no matter where the game is played.
It's not a PK or a 1 or a 2 or a 2' in Pasadena. Not so sure about that. I'd bet Wash all day at +4-6 against SC in a rematch. Maybe. One game doesn't make an entire season. SC lost 3 games and to two pretty weak Pac12 teams. Their resume is not that good. I'd still take Wash +6 over SC all day in a rematch.
As far as Penn St and Ohio St go. I totally can see why Ohio St is in and Penn St is out. Penn St lost to Pitt and Mich in a blowout. They barely beat Temple by 7 and Minn by 3. There is no argument in my opinion and I am from nowhere near either school.
Ohio St's resume. They beat Okla on the road. Won at Wisc. Beat Mich. 1 loss to Penn St. They have the better resume in my opinion. Penn St did a nice job coming back against Wiscy after getting manhandled in the first half. Who would give Bama a tougher game. Ohio St.
It's not a PK or a 1 or a 2 in Pasadena.

So your logic for putting them in is that they would give Alabama a better game?
You say one game doesn't make a season but you're trying to slam Penn State for losing to Michigan big...which happened 3 months ago and who happens to be highly ranked lol. You mention Penn State beating Temple by 7 and Minnesota by 3. Temple won the AAC, and did you not notice that OSU beat the 6-6 Northwestern only by 4 at home. How about needing a goal line 2 point conversion stand to beat the mighty 3-9 Spartans?
FYI Temple is ranked 24th, Pitt 23rd...and that Pitt team just happened to have a win over Clemson, at Clemson.
We can't try to justify OSU by slamming another teams close wins over WAY better teams without at least acknowledging that had the ball not bounced the right direction for OSU(plus horrible officiating) OSU very well could be looking at a 4 loss season.
Ohio St is going to get worked by Clemson. Ohio State has no weapons on offense, their O-Line is very suspect. Their only chance is their stout defense.

Again, by that metric, Michigan should be in. They lost both of their games on the last play of the game. They could be undefeated.
Quit crying about this, and let Penn State make their argument in the Rose Bowl.
If Vegas ranked the teams before the conference title games, they had BAMA, LSU, USC, and I think Clemson, Oklahoma, or Michigan(can't remember the 4th team but that was the first 3) as their top 4. That was mentioned on I believe Dan Patricks radio show Friday morning. So I'm not really sure what your point is?
If we strictly took names off the resumes and we showed you Team A(ohio state) and Team B(penn state) resumes and mentioned that Team B won H2H and won the conference, in no other sport or conversation would you ever put team A in. You will never convince me in sports 101 how that even makes sense. I'm sorry but you can't tell me "We think Ohio State is better," is a valid argument for putting them in over Penn St. You know why? That's an opinion. I can show you 2 facts though. Penn State beat Ohio Sate, Penn State won the conference. 2 FACTS that will never change. The NCAA simply made this decision based off money. You're very naive if you think otherwise.
This process honestly is really simple. The committee and all these shows talk all this mumbo jumbo to make it appealing and for more cooler talk. But they change their tone every year to justify their means.
If you took the names off and got rid of a pre disposition to a conference championship and strictly looked at their resumes team a (Ohio st);gets in every time over team b (Penn st)
Go ahead, compare their season long resumes and wins......its not even close.
Penn state has a better (but still losing) argument over clemson and wash.
Ohio St is going to get worked by Clemson. Ohio State has no weapons on offense, their O-Line is very suspect. Their only chance is their stout defense.
Who's crying? Isn't this a sports forum? Can't we have healthy arguments without someone taking it personal like you? You have issues.
Ohio State beat everybody but a tough Penn State team on their field, at night, because of 2 blocked kicks. They won at Oklahoma, at Wisconsin, beat Nebr by 60 and beat Michigan. You say they have no offensive weapons? That's just plain wrong dude! Ohio State is 9th in the country in scoring offense (Clemson is 12th)...Ohio State is 9th in the country in rushing offense (Clemson not in top 25). Granted Clemson's passing offense is better than Ohio State's, but total offense for both teams are close. On defense Ohio State is 4th in total defense (Clemson is 8th)...in scoring defense Ohio State in also 4th in the country (Clemson is 8th)....pass defense Ohio State is 5th in the country (Clemson is 12th)...rushing defense Ohio State is15th (Clemson is 25th).
All despite playing a tougher schedule. Maybe that is why Ohio State is a 3-point favorite. Both teams are very well coached.....I wouldn't want to face Urban Meyer with a whole month to prepare. I'm not saying one way or another who will win this game and Clemson might very well win this game, but to say "Ohio State will get worked by Clemson" I highly doubt that!
