what's a decent poker room around chicago? I've been going to Majestic Star in Gary, IN the past few nights and doing well, but hate having to drive all teh way out there from ohare and deal with the shi**y traffic.

its 45 miles from airport to Gary with 4 bucks in tolls each way.
but it took me 2 hours to do wednesday night with traffic! yuck! really cut into my poker time.
Could only get a seat on a 3/6 limit table - I won 6 kill pots in a row, and then had to leave an hour later to get back out to the airport to stay by my sis-in law's place cuz she goes to bed at 11 and i didnt want to get locked out.
I was really playing well and had to leave cuz of the distance/time factor.. .such a waste

I have been to Elgin and was almost sure they have poker. It was only like 5 tables but they did have it. Maybe call them Marine. :shrug:

agent, if you havent been to caesars since the remodel, you're missing a good poker room. one of the best, including vegas rooms.

Last time I was there some dipsh*t talked my ear off about the White Sox and how good they are playing and how many home runs they hit. He started crying about some player on the Sox that didn't make the all star team.
And at the $200 NL games people start fights and p*ss and moan like they lost their frigging house.

I started wearing headphones while I play. ONLY because I got so sick and tired of listening to the "starting hand police" bitch and moan and cry about me reraising with this and calling with that and what was I thinking and what did you have and blah blah blah blah blah. I have never worn sunglasses and dont even understand it but I do wear headphones for that reason. We started a Tuesday game about 2 years ago, 2-5 no limit and the RULE was you were not allowed to show your cards if not called, not allowed to ask and ABSOLUTELY forbidden to bitch about losing a hand. It was great, we threw 1 guy out in the 6 months or so the game ran because he wouldnt shut up :142smilie Other than that it was the best poker game I have ever played in.

Like you mention with the sunglasses and then people taking 10 minutes to muck their 2-6 off after 5 blanks come off. Playing around with their chips like Gus Hanson...etc Just guessing, but it's got to be even worse nowadays.
Its beyond worse. You really, really MUST take 500, go to the boat and play some 1-2 No limit. Just get drunk and watch the entertainment. Keep minimum rebuying (if you happen to lose). And just jack it in with 3-6 suited every now and again and show them. Its very entertaining! I sat at a 2-5 blinds 200 minimum table about a while ago, bought in for 200 and the next closest (8 handed) stack was 1500. The guy immediately to my right had 10,000. He had on some sort of turtleneck jacket zipped all the way up, sunglasses, hat pulled down, headphones, the whole works. I absolutely abused that table, someone would make it 30 and I would move in and after 10 minutes they finally would fold. This CLOWN to my right never played a single pot in the 3 hours I was there. He just blinded away like Broomcorns Uncle. :mj07:
