nice work Madjack. I have seen the site being worked on today with messages to inform
us. I got a sign once that came up asking me if I wanted mjs as my home page.

We are confident everything will be running like monkey grease
come football season. Plenty of time.

Of course there will always be this type of complaint.

NFL first game. Game time starts at 8:05 PM

Member : Hey wtf ! I can't get in ! the site is slammed and slow!

I don't have to log in every time, but about every third time. To me, this site seems to load slower than others I frequent. Thanks.

Finally....my first post! I have been having problems for two days, first trying to register and then trying to post. My problem seems to be that both the register and submit buttons are placed on the right side of the screen, and I can not get them into view. But I have been playing with the size of the window and with the horizontal movement arrow and I finally got a small portion of the register button to click to register, and now finally I did the same thing with the post button. For some reason it was more difficult to get the post button into view, than it was to get the register button into view...almost like the computer was angry that I had figured out the register button problem and was determined to thwart me....is that you, Hal? (a bad joke about the old Kier Dullea movie, 2001...A Space Oddesey)

Not really a problem but I do find the formatting a little annoying. Is there someway to keep everything from running off the right side of page? It seems the spacing of the ads along the left margin forces everything else off, requiring scrolling from left to right. Perhaps reducing the width of the message boxes would do it?

change your screen resolution to 1024x768.

Jack,
Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't think anyone should be forced to change their resolution so that the pages here will fit. If we all had to change our resolution for every different website out there we'd constantly be changing back and forth. I think the software you are using should be fixed. On 1024 the type is very small. On 800 it's more readable, but everything scrolls off the page to the right. I've tried both settings and neither is a great choice. Anyone out there with a monitor smaller than 17" must really be squinting (if on 1024)...or scrolling a LOT (if on 800) - only 50% of the page would likely be visible.

Personally I do a lot of things that require me to use 1024. I am sure many other people use applications or whatever in which they are more comfortable at 800. Regardless, the problem is in the programming of the software. It should accomodate everyone at whichever setting they prefer. They have hard-coded the width of the columns when they should have had coding in place to make the width of the columns a percentage of the screen area, not a fixed number of inches or pixels (I know these codes are available and they are pretty basic HTML). In other words, tell it in HTML "15% of the screen should be the ad column, 85% should be the BB...but instead they've just said "x number of pixels for the left column, x number of pixels for the right". This would also allow you to increase the font size as well and still keep everything on the screen.

Who wrote this software? I am sure they must be able to make this fix, since the fix would be a whole lot easier to do than writing bulletin board software in the first place.

I don't mean to bitch, I am very happy here and have appreciated these forums for years. Just thinking it's very fixable and the programmer should be willing to do it. If not, maybe it's time to hint that his software is not up to par. :shrug:

I have to agree that screen resolution shouldn't have to be changed. I don't know the why's and wherefore's but I do know that my old eyes don't accomodate 1024 x 768, even with the damned trifocals!

On the course!
I just gave up!

I don't like it at all. I have to log in every time, even though I check the box that says it will remember me. I don't like the "busyness" of the screen. I don't like how slow it loads. It seems like the ads have become the focal point for the site. I know they pay the bills, but I feel like I am standing in a cheesy casino with all the blinking and flashing going on.

I hope things change for the better, and I'm sure I can get used to little things that annoy me about the new format, but for now, I am just back to "lurker" mode.

Why do we have to go to user cp after every post to unsuscribe. If we don't we get emails everytime someone posts in that thread.

It's a pain in the :moon:

various slowness;
repititous login;
horizontal scroll bar to read posts.

Sorry for the negativity but, I'm having a bad day at work. If it weren't for other lawyers, judges and clients, this wouldn't be a bad job.
