change your screen resolution to 1024x768.
Jack,
Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't think anyone should be forced to change their resolution so that the pages here will fit. If we all had to change our resolution for every different website out there we'd constantly be changing back and forth. I think the software you are using should be fixed. On 1024 the type is very small. On 800 it's more readable, but everything scrolls off the page to the right. I've tried both settings and neither is a great choice. Anyone out there with a monitor smaller than 17" must really be squinting (if on 1024)...or scrolling a LOT (if on 800) - only 50% of the page would likely be visible.
Personally I do a lot of things that require me to use 1024. I am sure many other people use applications or whatever in which they are more comfortable at 800. Regardless, the problem is in the programming of the software. It should accomodate everyone at whichever setting they prefer. They have hard-coded the width of the columns when they should have had coding in place to make the width of the columns a percentage of the screen area, not a fixed number of inches or pixels (I know these codes are available and they are pretty basic HTML). In other words, tell it in HTML "15% of the screen should be the ad column, 85% should be the BB...but instead they've just said "x number of pixels for the left column, x number of pixels for the right". This would also allow you to increase the font size as well and still keep everything on the screen.
Who wrote this software? I am sure they must be able to make this fix, since the fix would be a whole lot easier to do than writing bulletin board software in the first place.
I don't mean to bitch, I am very happy here and have appreciated these forums for years. Just thinking it's very fixable and the programmer should be willing to do it. If not, maybe it's time to hint that his software is not up to par.
