ok, here you go jack. although i doubt i'll be able to post regularly or keep up a record, at least i'll try and give an idea about where i'm coming from with the plays. for tonight:

dodgers -103: alverez has a 3.88 era on the road over his career and the pirates have never seen him. while perez has pitched well this year and has some nice numbers against the dodgers, he has a career 5.60 era in night games, over 2 rpg higher than his day era. sure enough, in this year's only night start, he got rocked for five runs in five innings in milwaukee.

add in the fact dodgers hit lefties much better, .299 vs. .224 home/away; ,277 vs .205 last ten, and seem to have the pirates' number, winning 16 of last 20 meetings.

padres +103: peavy has been lights out this year, even though he's probably pitched a little over his head. his caeer era is a rpg better at night, and he pitched well in his only start vs the marlins. good spot tonight to do well against the fish again, who are only averaging 2.8 rpg vs righties at home, and have lost 5 of last 6. pavano, on the other hand, has been shelled for a 7.83 era in five starts vs the padres, and now face hot san diego team, winners of 8 of last 10.

will probably take a look at the over 7- after looking at tonight's weather update and ump assignment. not sure these two pitchers warrant such a low number, and teams have played over 17 of last 21 meetings.

more later.
