last night chops as austin peay fades in the second half, tenn martin get their revenge in ot, and halftime plays earn us a kiss from sis. tonight there's a nice little value play with an early 6:30 tip:
tex a&m corpus christi -2: cc is a nice guard oriented, pace pushing team that likes to force the tempo. they have a solid nucleus back from last year's 20 win team. s fla is extemely thin at the guard position. their best returning guard by far, brian mosely, was suddenlly stricken with renal cancer in the offseason and died in october. fr pg chris howard, who had been pegged to take over the point position from graduated senior brian swift, recently blew out his knee and is lost for the season. three other backup guards have been lost in the last several weeks to injury, defection and dismissal. islanders are going to present huge matchup problems for the bulls that are only going to be compounded by the pace of the game. remember that this is a neutral court game in springfield, mo.
speaking of springfield, host team mo st finds itself in ranking anomoly position in the early season that may give some value tonight. mo st (formerly sw mo) is about the fifth best team in the mvc, yet finds itself placed in the power rankings ahead of n iowa , siu and wichita st, all better teams imo. this quirk presents us with good value with a well rounded ga southern team catching 12- currently. like the dog early but i'd like to see what the line does today.
ga st gave us a nice ml win earlier in the week catching 2- points at home vs ul laf, but tonight is catching the same number at home vs a much better geo mason team. methinks the linesmaker is trying trick us into the same bet, but i'm likely to pass the bait and take the visitor.
mont st catching 8 at home vs stanford is enticing also. quite an intriguing slate for a friday.
for now, tex am cc is the only sure play, be back later with the rest.
