From Madjack sending me a sweet tee :0074, to Poon offering up some Sker tickets :toast:.

The generosity and caring of people I have never had the fortune of meeting simply amazes me.

This post was brought on by greggraffin, dude just mailed me, at a cost of nearly $30 just for shipping, 30 Enfamil Infant Formula cans for my new baby. A gesture which I will match by donating the cost of these cans to the Food Bank in his name for Thanksgiving.

I sent you a personal email greggraffin, but I thought you deserved some public accolades for such a kind and generous act on your part.

Bravo young man, Bravo!! :0008:0008

Made my day!!

Btw - I took a picture of the cans and my new Tee, but it wouldnt post here, damn new website design!!

Over the years (going on 16) the people in this community have helped me in many ways. Way too many to mention. A lot of the things are little or seem little and are taken for granted but add them all up and it's huge.

I'm not going to list everything. Impossible. But just recently 2 guys here really helped me out with small favors that were huge to me. Let's just say they made life easier for me.

Back in July my wife totaled her car and I posted a question about collecting insurance money for the loss. Keyser Soze happened to see the post and reached out to me because of his experience dealing with insurance companies. Without any doubt in my mind, I'm sure he helped me collect several thousand dollars more than I would have had he not taken the time to contact me. This is something that I have grown to take for granted because it happens so often around here.

It happens that KS helped me out with another thing I needed to have done and that was about a month ago? Muy apreciado, brother. :0074

What made me think of this and this thread was; just yesterday I needed something and I could not find what I needed locally. I'm not going to mention what it is because he doesn't need people bugging him all the time but I got an idea to call Betone because he might be able to lend a hand. Bingo! Betone came through immediately, saved me a lot of time and a few bucks to boot.

I could probably go on for days posting about all the little favors and all the friends I have made here but no need. I just mentioned these because they happened recently.

Thanks guys! Thanks folks!

Not as the owner, but as a member of this community, I too, Fucking Love Madjacks.

Thanks for the post, Hedman. :toast:

From things like losing my dog & wife to sharing good news that happens throughout the year, madjacks is always here to lend an ear. What really made me truly appreciate everyone and this site was how people came to my aid when I needed it most. Life long friends that I wouldn't have otherwise really showed up. In particular, Skipper. To this day, I can't tell you enough how much it still means to me, to have gone on that sports getaway to Boston. But everyone who remembers knows that Skipper did it for far greater reasons that sports. He knew I was at one of my lowest points and he wanted to help a fellow brother out.....just get me out of the house and try to get my mind off of things. I will forever be indebted to him for that.

When I joined this site 13 years ago, I never thought it would be such a life changing decision. For those of you that haven't been to a madjacks gathering (golf outing or super bowl party), do yourself a favor and give it a try. Even if you don't play golf, I assure you that you'll have a great time and meet some of the best guys you'll ever know. I know I haven't met everyone that I want to yet, but I look forward to the day where more people come out to events.

I absolutely can't wait for the Super Bowl in Vegas.....to see so many of my great friends again.

I placed my first bet with Intertops in Oct 1998 and have been there ever since

My boss opened an account at Aces Gold and wanted me to find a free "tout" site

Madjacks was that site (I think I found it through the Aces Gold links) - Been here ever since

WarEagle was also in the cotton business but I've never had the chance to meet him. He and his family were industry trend setters and very well respected. He's one of the guys on here I'd like to sit down and drink a bottle of whiskey with and trade stories.

Quit gambling in 2008 (no deposits) when our company went under - Promised the wife that I wouldn't gamble until we made up for my lost salary. That happened last year. Have made another promise to curtail the hobby until we go through IVF, probably early 2014. Will continue to make promises until the kid(s) are out of college.

Best decisions I've made was to meet up with Betone in Birmingham, KRC & FDC in Georgetown, and make last years golf tourney in Tunica. Meeting the guys you bullshit with changes things for the better.

After hearing Josh?s story I also think it would be fun to have a thread about how you found MadJacks.
For me I had just started dating someone and one of the initial connections we made revolved around loving pro sports.
Well early on we somehow realized we both also liked to not just watch, but also wager on sports, and both of us used online books. It was a shocker, because it?s not a common ?hobby? in my? community. :s8:
Hell, I didn?t even realize there was such a thing as ?handicapping? as a gambler. I thought you just picked a team and hoped for the best.

Fast forward a year and we had moved in together. You might think a relationship with one compulsive gambler is dangerous; well try one where both parties are degenerates. Sundays were a very fun and very volatile day in our household! Anyhow, as I had become more ?sophisticated? in my approach, I was turned on to handicapping forums. I would look over my friend?s shoulder as we ?researched? the upcoming weekend?s games. One of the sites they had been using (and posted on) was MadJackSports. So I became a second-hand madjacker. After that relationship ended, madjacksports was the one forum I remembered as having good picks, so I started lurking here on my own. I probably went 2-3 years before signing up myself, and did so because there was some post in the General forum I had to comment on.

It was then a few years before I met another fellow madjacker, and then just last year when I went to my first group meetup. I?m not going to call out any specific Madjacker for any one deed they did for me, but there have been many kind words and helpful suggestions over the years. I guess the point I am trying to make is that over the past 10 years, a website?a friggin website!...has had enough of an impact on my life for me to want to tell the stupid story of how I found it.

Although it?s been said, many times, many ways? what a great group of people! :00hour
