I'm so sick and tired School/Sports/Group Fundraisers! We have two small business that get absolutely bombarded week in week out with people looking for Donations (handouts).......I'm all about giving back to the Community but this getting out of hand!

My kids are involved in Sports, Clubs & Arts and they come home from school with sheets for raising money all the time raising funds for this & that.....The kids do nothing and the parents do all the work.....

My son has a 7th Grade Class Trip coming up: They send home a sheet saying they need to raise $7,000 for an overnight trip with Laser Tag...Whoppie Friggen Deal....Here's a though, each one of you little rug rats grab a sleeping bag and camp under the stars in my back yard. I'll even buy each one of you a flashlight to play tag with that night....Hell, I'll even kick in Hot Dogs & Marshmallows. I bet I can pull this off for under $50!

Last night my daughter comes home from her schools One Act Plays around Midnight....

Me: How did your group (45 kids) make out?

Daughter: We got 2nd Place

Me: Thinking to myself (sweet end of season!)

Daughter: The school that won didn't file the $25 registration fee for the competition so they were disqualified so we get to go to the New England Competitions!

Me: Oh, that's nice......

Daughter: We need to raise around $20,000 in the next three weeks to go. I'll have the Fundraising info for "You" on Monday....

Me: WTFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just sick and tired of everyone looking for a handout so they dont have to pull money out of their own pocket for their kids to do some activity.....Here's a though go and work a job to come up with you're own money for these extra curricular activities!

I'm done bitching....I need to go put together a Gift Basket.........

I'm sure that the parents from the other school "forgot" the $25 on purpose.

First place and they saved 20k on a one act play...

My daughter won homecoming queen at our local high school,,within 2 weeks she had received 21 requests that she had 'won' an entrance in to various beauty contests,,,She ONLY had to pay the 500.00 entrance fee,,After 2 of these my wife finally figured it out,,of course I had to let her figure it out or I was the bad guy,,,Didnt cost us but a couple of grand expenses because she had 'won' all of these 'free' trips,,

That's a heck of a scam right there. I hate them for doing it, but top notch creativity if you ask me.

Wait, isn't the whole point that they ARE paying for their own way? The part that is fucked up is the "fundraising" responsibility has shifted from the kids to the parents.

I'm not opposed to Fundraising but have the kids put some sort of effort into it and stop relying on Small Local Business to foot the bill all the time:

Car Wash
Lawn Sale
Pot Luck Supper
ect.

Have these kids actually work it and understand what it takes to make/raise the money.....

We received $125 donation from our local Rec for Basketball this Spring. I had our kids volunteer time last weekend at a local event, about 60 hours of coverage as a thank you......

Trust me, I'm with you on this one. My comments were directed at dumb-dumb.
