Had a lot of viewers yesterday and I sure hope I didn't cost anybody. Tellyas, I can not wait for Philly to get their act together cause I'm getting a good dose of why I generally AVOID other tracks. One exception is Aqueduct where form holds up really good, but the prices SU...er, stink.
I shouldn't mention this but sorry just gotta.... that lady that goes over the races online with her husband between every race at Gulfstream, well she really talkied up the case for the no. 4 hoss in the Donn. (BTW, looks to me like her elevator does quite make it to the top floor; you know - like there's a card or two missing from the full deck.) JUST LIKE MOST OF THE GULFSTREAM RACES - even after some serious handicapping, them ALL looked the same to me. My prerace screening (spotting) came up with the 4 and the 7 and I wound up going with that no. 4 in exactas, played the 4 with 5 other horses. Hit it. I just couldn't bear to post another losah here even though I'm sure, nobody was about to tail me anyways
The $66 payoff really helped but still didn't quite save the day for me either.
Nuff autobiographies.... I had plenty of time last night to cap today's card and I CHECK OUT EVERYTHING + angles. I'm not familiar with horses here like I am with Philly, but I am with the jockeys and trainers and think I'm starting to understand how this track plays. These Gulfstream cards are sooo competitive. But, I have enough confidence in 3 races today...
3rd race:
when I find 4 horses that are rated well ahead of the others (considering odds too), playing them this way usually works for me IF I'M RIGHT ABOUT THE HOSSES that is. It doesn't cost much and could yield a decent payoff....
playing the 1 and the 6, top/bot exactas, with the 5 and 7. Also, IF the no 5 goes off at or better than 5-1, it's a play Win/Place by itself on the side as well.
4rd race:
these are the ones I'll be working with, but I did NOT consider the AEs (also eligibles) so I gotta wait before deciding how to playem... 10, 7, 1 OR 1a (either one will do. how cum?... both look good and quite often the trainer will scratch one and enters the one he likes better to run. Push come to shove, I'd rather see the no 1 stay in. BUT, sometimes the wiseguy trainers will put in the one that LOOKS weaker and he knows that the one he lets run IS READY. I don't know enough about Cartagena to know what he may be up to though.).
8th race
Numero uno as in no. 1, 8-1 M.L., is the horse in this race. Either accross the board (3x to show) OR just Win/Place. I don't care much for the favorite and may consider just wheeling the 1 with ALL top and bottom. Nailed some (as in, more than one) HUGE, and I mean HUGE, exactas at Philly doing it this way. Caught two of them during the 2 week period before the crap started about 3 weeks ago with the track conditions.
Let's see how these do.. and DO visit when Philly resumes in better weather which is better for picking winners.
