I won a 1200.00 jackpot Friday and I had no idea you have to pay taxes only on 1200 winnings. It must be a new law? They automatically took out Louisiana tax but I told them no federal taxes out. How can I prove on my taxes next year I have lost over 1200 so I dont have to declare gambling winnings? I also won over 500 playing blackjack, and 250 on another slot machine it was a good day:00hour

thanks in advance

EASY!!!
i'll divorce my wife, you marry her, use her losings (she has plenty) to offset your winnings

The hassle for 200-300 bucks is not worth it, particularly for someone like Hedge, who has claimed to be set for life financially...........

This is what I was thinking - I couldn't understand what Hedge was talking about when it really shouldn't matter. If you're set for life - a ten thousand dollar loss shouldn't matter - let alone a $1200 win and paying taxes on it.

The IRS isn't stupid. They know this is the oldest scam run by guys like this! That's why the first question they ask when you drop thousands of dollars worth of losing tickets in front of them will always be:

"You had all those losers, but only that one big winner, huh?"

They don't buy it. Period.

You can take the chance that you don't get audited, and you probably won't. But if you do, and this is the course you wish to go........good luck.

You gotta love the IRS. Thieves. They tax you on your income then try to get thier grubby little hands on every dollar that comes your way? F them

I will figure out a way to get around the income taxes, I have lost way more than 1200 gambling in my life, then hit a jackpot and I have to pay taxes, fuck the feds, I am making a few trips to the dog track and buying some lotto tickets. :00hour I am sure I will lose some at the dog track legitimately too :142smilie

I never play slot machines for long each time I go, I prefer blackjack to anything else. The biggest jackpot I hit before Friday was 1000 and no taxes at all.

That's right, Hedgie. Drive to a convenience store and root around in the garbage cans to avoid paying $300 in taxes :00hour

I thought you couldn't combine different types of gambling. For example, you can't claim you lost on scratch tickets to make up for wins on sports gambling. I'm not gonna research it because I really don't care, but I thought that was the case.
