Game Ratings go from 0, the worst, to 5 the best. One point is awarded for

a) pitching at least 6 innings.

Pitching under 5.67 (5 2/3) IP is an automatic zero for the game and the rest is not considered.

So a starter going 5.67 innings gets points, but can get no more than 4 for the game;

b) hits no greater than innings pitched;

c) strikeouts no fewer than 2 less than innings ( IP- K = or less than 2);

d) strikeouts at least twice the number of walks;

e) no more than two home runs given up.

after the starter meets these requirments, they must have thrown a minium of 105 pitches in their last start.(imperative)

the reason i ask....is

Jack and I are going to be busy next couple of weeks with site modifications to bestbettor and madjacks and im asking for your help to track starters game ratings since i might not be able to do it...ultimate only goal.....to win some money for our members...

ratings can be calculated overnight for starters here:
http://covers.usatoday.com/data/mlb/game/mlb_game.html
by clicking on the game matchup and then clicking on "in depth"
for starters...

anybody up to it?

i will go into what to look for later monday...with different game ratings scenairos...with response and answers.

thanks

I'd be happy to assist but need clarification.

Let's use D'Amico who pitches today as an example.

1. Are we charting his last start (5/5/2004) to handicap today's game or are we charting today's start to handicap future games?

2. Bases on the answer to question #1, which game is the 105 pitch count eeded for? 5/5/2004 or 4/27/2004.

3. What time do you need this by?

Let me know.

thanks for your interest Big Dog,always last start we are looking at..

D'amico will have a "0" rating going into the game with a pitch count of over 102.....

what ultimatley we are looking for is starters charted each start for each individual game and listed and see their patterns.

a "0" rating with 102 will result in a non-quality start over 72% of the time.

in my log book i would have for D'amico showing :

5/5/2004 Boston L 5-9 Start - L (0.0) 102
4/27/2004 @ Chicago W 11-7 Start - ND (0.0) 72
4/22/2004 Kansas City W 5-4 Start - ND (0.0) 80
4/19/2004 Detroit L 4-10 Start - ND (0.0) 23
4/14/2004 Minnesota L 6-10 Start - L (3.0) 94
4/8/2004 @ Kansas City W 6-1 Start - W (5.0) 87

D'amico
4/8/2004 @ Kansas City W 6-1 Start - W (5.0) 87

I'm assuming the (5.0) = 5 points. How can this be with 7 IP and only 4 K's?

c) strikeouts no fewer than 2 less than innings ( IP- K = or less than 2); Would not apply.

Or Am I missing something?

Pretty simple. No one made it to 5 2/3 last time out.

Is the format OK?
Did you only need their last start?

perfect format,

bost over 6.0 -115 looks decent...for 2.0 units vs (2.5 and 3.0)

there will be stronger plays and has been over the course of the season....but is a play.

I'll give it a shot. I'll start a log for each pitcher which should help.

Big Dog, i will be more comprehendible in the morning, been looking at screens, baseball #'s and this forum since 9:00 am this morning well over 18 hours and bit goggled.....

sure is not an excuse, but accept my apology please..if any clarification is needed would be more than happy to throw it out...tomorrow....not messing with anyone just trying to point out a system to observe starters...its all good.

thanks BigDog...

remember we are forecasting a non-quality start here, so people will have to look at both starters situations with bullpens....

d'amico will give up 4 runs tomorrow as a side for clev.......now we have to determine rest of game.

will become more clear with more low totals and examples as weeks go on.
