honestly,i`d think democrats....fair and somewhat moderate democrats, at least,
would be happy to see moore fade off into the sunset...

he doesn`t help the party....he definitely was a factor in a bush backlash in middle america(i said a factor, not THE reason)....

i say again....if the dems had put evan bayh...joe lieberman or bill richardson out there, they may very well have won this thing....and maybe comfortably....

but it insulted many in middle america, imo, that a michael moore had a preeminent spot at the democratic convention and was embraced by the kerry campaign....

many loved the bush bashing and moore`s bomb throwing....but even more get pissed when the president of the u.s. gets insulted and disrespected....regardless of whether you agree with him or not....

that`s a fact....as we now know....

That is not a fact. People may have gotten mobilized about thinking Moore is BS, but "president of the u.s. gets insulted and disrespected" comment is ridiculous. AR has made similar statements in the past, and I don't understand how anyone honestly think that's true. Ripping on presidents has been a staple of things like talk-shows and SNL. Clinton was a personal vendetta for talk radio for 8 years. People don't mind seeing the President "insulted or disrespected" at all.

More was right about one thing, make it two. Cheney. And battle for Fallujah was held back to after election. That of course show's were dreaming over there. While we told them we were coming they estimate over 4000 slipped away to fight another day. I just don't get it. In WW I Or II. Had we told the Germans two weeks before we were coming before every battle. We might still be there fighting. I just never seen us fight a war so stupid.

I read that the Brits Spec Forces were assigned outside the city to take care of the ones that were trying to slip through.

The main objective was to take the city and the mosques and all that intact as much as possible.

Democracy comes at a price.

have you priced a gallon of milk lately ?

Michael Moore continues to have unkind words for his fellow countrymen. On his international book tour, the author of ?Dude, Where?s My Country?? was asked what he thought of Americans. ?They are possibly the dumbest people on the planet ... in thrall to conniving, thieving, smug pricks,? he replied. ?We Americans suffer from an enforced ignorance. We don?t know about anything that?s happening outside our country. Our stupidity is embarrassing.? . . .

"Liberals are tolerant of everything except those who don't think like them"- Rush Limbaugh

R Lee Ermy just appeared on a Fox News and had some interesting things to say.

-What is up with the major cable news networks? You would think this is Yasser Arafat day instead of Veterens Day. This terrorist is mentioned every 3-5 minutes and our Vets are mentioned maybe once an hour. He is quoted as saying "I do not mourn the passing of a terrorist.........this is the only thing the French ever did right"

-When asked about how he feels about the anti-military feeling within most of his fellow actors in Hollywood, like Michael Moore, he responded:
"DON'T YOU EVER USE MY NAME AND RANK IN THE SAME SENTENCE AS MICHAEL FAT UGLY SLOB MOORE!"

bj,

there are many people in this country, myself included, who feel that whoever holds the office of presidency should be respected.

i feel it's alright to criticize a president's policies but it's not ok to personally insult the president.

and that's what many people did on the democratic side & that definitely hurt kerry.

So you think it's wrong for shows like Leno, Letterman, and SNL to make jokes about the president? Personally, I don't care either way, but it just seems like presidential segments get a lot of laughs. I think what hurt the democrats was that people didn't like Moore, and he was the face of the bashing. I don't think it was simply because they don't think the president should be made fun of.

no bj...that`s not what we`re saying....you are talking about satire...we are talking about issues like defamation of character, personal insults, and hysterical attacks.....

i think something similar actually benefitted president clinton during the lewinsky fiasco.....

i`ve said numerous times on this board that clinton was treated horribly and the whole lewinsky thing was wrong and contributed greatly to the political climate we live in today....

so,before you get your partisan panties in a bunch,my post was not meant as a partisan indictment of the dems....just stating that leaning and embracing the far,far left was a mistake.....a political mistake...

all the mean spirited attacks and vitriol by the moore`s and the whoopi`s and the hollywood crowd and their like backfired....didn`t play well in middle america...

i believe that to be true...

and as i said before,if kerry had been elected,i would have given him the respect that the office deserves....i wouldn`t have been on here calling him a criminal,or stupid,or generally acting like a vindictive schoolgirl.....

If that's all you mean, then yes, you have a much stronger point. I always assumed that what the two of you meant was any disrespect of the president at all (which I would consider satire to be), which completely baffled me. Consider my partisan panties to be quite unbunched.

There is no doubt in my mind that people like Moore,Springsteen, et al cost the Democrats votes. There are many people that find the Hollywood crowd pompous and rather than attracting votes, they inflame people to vote the opposite. Star power is way over rated. Look at P. Diddy (aka Puff Daddy, etc). He is one of the most elite members of today's music world. He spent countless hours trying to get the young generation to vote - "vote or die". It didn't work. But I wonder how many adults may have decided to not vote Dem or vote for Bush as a result. Though P. urged everybody to vote, he was also quoted often with absolutely hysterical attacks against Bush. I don't know what the average age of a voter is, but I am sure it is up there. Older people, middle class, white - this is no doubt the average voter. I don't think Hollywood stars and rapper/producers and rogue film makers appeal much to that crowd. Could be wrong about that, but if I was a honcho in the Dem party, I think I would downplay their positions in future elections.

Kerry lost it. Bush won the ugly contest. Dean lost it with his melttdown. He was more presidential than both Kerry and Bush put together and that's not a compliment

The Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. does not give out awards for docus, so it does not consider the genre in any other race, which KO's "Fahrenheit," released domestically by Lions Gate, IFC Films and Fellowship Adventure Group.

It's a documentary....It can't be considered.... So??

?They are possibly the dumbest people on the planet ... in thrall to conniving, thieving, smug pricks,? he replied. ?We Americans suffer from an enforced ignorance. We don?t know about anything that?s happening outside our country. Our stupidity is embarrassing.?

At the risk of offending EVERY person on this board, in my personal experience I have to agree with parts of that...especially the last second sentence.

I've been to the US, and watched the "world news". It contained exactly ZERO stories from outside the US. (Obviously pre-war time).

The Canberra fires here in Australia made the world news...Huge bush fires that burnt down over 100 homes....I know for a fact that US tv ran a report that us 'laid-back Aussies laid on the beach while these fires burned', showing a picture of beach goers in Sydney.....Over 100 k's away from Canberra!!

US Sport sure doesn't help the situation.

You play for "World Championships", in "World Series"!!! WTF??

Your sports stars constantly thank God in interviews, like they are His chosen one.

You have Spreewell who can't feed his family on $14 mil a year. Artest thinks he can walk in and out of his job when he likes.

OJ walks free.
Kobe doesn't even go to trial.

We've all seen the (probably somewhat sarcastic) stats where about 30% of people interviewed can't point to Canada on a map, let alone Australia or somewhere more out of the way.

ffs, there are still parts in the country where it's un-acceptable to teach Evolution Theory, because God said it didn't happen!!!

You tell me what the rest of the world are all supposed to think?

And tell me why we should care what the rest of the world thinks? Do the Muslims care what we think or do they dismiss what we think as wrong because it is not "their" belief? The United States gives more money, goods, and time to the balance of the world than any other country ever has. Yet we are often looked at as greedy. Our capitalistic economic system is constantly criticized by other countries where socialism and despotism reign supreme. Funny how more people are trying to get OUT of those countries than there are people trying to get IN. The United States is far from perfect. But stupid? i don't think so. I don't know of a time when there were more people wanting to LEAVE the U.S. than were wanting to COME to the U.S. That says something.

we are still a work in progress.... :)

So many people want to come to the US because they want their chance to walk around like a fvcking idiot and be stupid, and ignorant of the rest of the world issues.

I swear to god, some times i wonder about people....

"Sell the car to get gas money."
Thats how freaking stupid a large majority of people are around this country.
This country has way to many retards running around passing out their views as if god himself spoke to them thru the transistor radio sitting on the dusty shelf of the double wide in cincinati.

MrChristo, I wholeheartedly agree with you, people are fvcking DUMB. and quite honestly, that is the prime reason i got out of the military. I absolutely refuse to die for a jackass.
Learning how to be a civilian was easy.. just walk around and run into walls and follow the back of the head in front of me.

Aha!! The exact answer I was expecting. ;)

Just stirin' guys. (3 words. 1 apostrophised....with an 'S', not like you English-bastardising Americans.) :D

Obviously the American people no more (or less) stupid than any other country...I do however honestly believe that the ignorance levels in the US would be far higher than most other places.

Should you care?? Dunno.

I recently heard a quote from a US jounrnalist who said, "Most Americans just don't realise how hated [we] are around the world."

We could argue the rights and wrongs for ever...but I have to believe that statement is true.

"""You play for "World Championships", in "World Series"!!! WTF??(who should we play?....the best japanese and latino players ply their trade in the u.s).....

How about ANYONE else??

Detroit ARE NOT World Champions. They beat 29 other teams from Nth America.
If there IS a World Champ out there it would be Argentina, would it not?

Boston Red Sox ARE NOT World Champs. They happened to beat a few Nth American teams aswell. Maybe if they played against a few teams from SOMEWHERE ELSE in the world?

To me it's typical of the arrogant, "We are the only country in the world that counts" attitude.

Oh, btw gw, 1 in 142 US citizens in currently in prison!! (1 in every 75 men!!!!)

22, 894 people in Australian prisons. Population 19,731,984....Or 1 in every 862 people ;)
