i never thought of it before and don't know the rule.

are you permitted to use a club other than a putter on the putting surface?

that #9 green at oakmont is 22,000 square feet :scared

Absolutely, you can use any club you want. I have putted in with my SW more than once after tossing the putter in the lake.

Also a few holes on tour have some spots where guys cannot putt directly at the hole and have to chip. They always make sure to take a big divot. :grins:

Nope....

My putter has also had some unfortunate collisions with my knee:SIB

Haven't broken or thrown a club in anger in years though, that shit is all in the past.

I would say that rule 8.1, section 9, paragraph 4, subparagraph 2, decision 6.2 of subsection 21 clearly states that you can use any club you wish on the putting green. :142smilie

i rarely throw clubs anymore. i did all the time when i was a kid. one time i threw my driver after a bad hook and almost hit my mother. that resulted in my dad chasing me around the golf course until he gave up because he couldn't catch me. he was all calmed down by the time he finished the round and met be back at the clubhouse. i got yelled at though. LOL

Finally one day my Dad said to me "you break another club from now on YOU pay to get them fixed".

That was a longggg time ago, and have only lost one club since. There is a Ping answer in the bottom of the lake on #16 at our club. Probably a little rusty by now.:mj07:

That's some funny stuff Jackson. :142smilie

I broke my PW on a golf trip last fall in South Carolina. It's just not worth it.

Like Agent, I have a White Hot 2-Ball Putter that is about 50 yards NW of #12 green at Sultan's Run about 50' deep in the pond. I think I threw it further than I hit my tee shot on that hole, LOL.

i never threw a club into a pond. many times felt like throwing the whole bag in there though.

i only broke one club. a ping putter that i won from the club pro on the practice green.

number 8 hobbits glen, par 3, missed a 2 foot birdie putt and took a home run swing at the flag stick and snapped it in 2 (the putter). no damage to the flag stick.

when i played by myself i never took the flag out.

man, i was even more pissed after i broke that putter.

I used to have a bad habit of tying them around trees and leaving them there. Same with Agent, when I started to have to pay for repair suddenly the temper got a little more in control. I always found that if threw one and got the anger out of the way, it doesn't stay trapped inside, you forget about it.

The last club I threw was four years ago; hit a big drive on a par 5, got six iron home and of course a big over the top hook. Went to give my club a big helicopter toss forward and had just put on a new glove so the club stuck in my hand and went straight 90 degrees to my left towards the cart. My best buddy was sitting in the cart, the shaft hits the cart support, snaps in half and the jagged broken shaft and clubhead go zooming threw the cart right under my buddys chin. Scared me worse than him since he didn't have time to react. Got lucky with that act of stupidity and not let it happen again since.

Funny story growing up, a guy at the club that made his living by gambling/hustling and notorious for his bad temper was having a bad day and threw his whole bag into the pond by the 13th green. He drove off to come back a few minutes later realizing his watch, rings, wallet and money roll were in the bag:142smilie :mj07: Classic seeing a 50 year old man [that was old when I was in high school, not so funny anymore] diving into the pond and trying to drag this pro bag out to get his "valuables".

Temper gets you nowhere :nono: {deep breaths}

HELL
MJ, No. 9 is also the putting green hence the sqaure footage. It gets separated by a blue rope/tape or something like this and if one on the putting green putts towards the actual No. 9 hole across the blue rope/tape = DQ.

The course if brutal as I was there yesterday and only live about 10 minutes or so from the course. We got about 1/2 rain late yesterday in a span of 20 minutes or so. No rain = pain for these guys over the weekend. Just wait....

I broke my dads putter at a putt putt tournament when I was 16. I missed a putt to win the tournament and I think about 150 dollars and it hit my knee and I screamed an expletive and lost in extra holes. LOL

I actually had to go out and buy another putter with my own money so my dad did not find out the next time he went to play golf.

I used to throw golf clubs after bad shots when I played golf, but as I got older and found out golf clubs are not cheap, well I learned not to throw them.
