I just finished "bringing down the house".
Good read. Real quick. I lent it to my Dad and he hasn't read a book in probably 15 years (probably since "Beyond the 6th Game" came out) and he read it in three days.
I know what Nick's saying about lots of deals getting made but not getting made into movies, but this book just has too much good movie stuff. It isn't too heavy on "internal narration". It's very episodic and has a great arc.
It's got hints and mysteries and suggestions at the beginning, lots of concrete stories (good times, bad times, tense times), lots of "short term drama" with the pit bosses and back-rooms, and lots of "long term drama" like the progression and conflicts of the team.
It's got personal internal conflict. Person-to-person conflict. Team-to-casino conflict. Sex. violence. money. HIgh rollers, and a sort of rags to riches to rags element too.
I also don't think the cast would be asian. Yes, that was important to their success, but I don't think it has to be in the movie. The only reason we knew it made a difference was that the author said "an asian kid with a lot of money raises less suspicion".

I don't know who turned them in. I'd agree with Saint -- most likely Micky for getting jilted. He seemed like a guy you don't "F" with. I bet if you talked to Fisher or Martinez, they might be pointing the finger at Kevin, though. Keep in mind we got this through Kevin's eyes.
Maybe this helped out his other group. Turn in one gang and it might take the heat off the other gang. Just speculating.
