i love it, two toughest games are at home. If you they get solid qb play, they might be able to beat usc.

Not sure you can bet on a team that has to face an SEC schedule., with a new coach that has never won anything, and with a big hole at QB. They no doubt have lots of talent, but I dont see the value there. Moreover, we already know USC will be unbeaten and in the game, Texas-Ohis State winner is in great shape as well, so a pretty good shot this year at more than 2 unbeatens. I can pretty easily imagine an unbeaten LSU being left out.

with a big hole at QB.

Be careful Sun,

2 seasons ago LSU had "a big hole at QB" coming into the season and wound up with a national title. This team has far more talent at QB, and I expect Russel to have a solid season, while the nations #1 High School QB in 2004 takes a red-shirt.

Not to sound trite, but LSU would likely be better served this season with a heady, stable QB that "doesn't lose games", rather than a stud playmaker who turns the ball over more frequently.

betting on a team with a first yr head coach/no qb/new wrs/sec west

Wareagle,

You seem confused. LSU lost no WRs last season, and may have the deepest WR corps in the nation, much less the SEC.

As for QB, I am willing to bet that most Div I programs would give a nut for Russel and Perriloux.

And as for a 1st year HC not being able to win a title, you may want to ask Frank Tressel.

Do I feel LSU will win another nat'l title for the SEC this season? No, but they have the best chance of any team in our conference.

any thoughts?

A unit @ 20:1 is clearly worth a shot in my 'homeresque' opinion. Schedule looks good, O line is better than it has been in the Saban era. Skill positions have talent galore. LBs and secondary have more talent than most realize. D line will be flat awesome.

Frank Tressel?

And Tressel had won titles at youngstown. Les Mile$ has never even finished 3rd in his DIVISION.

And while Perriloux was highly rated, he was not the #1 QB, that was Mark Sanchez who went to USC.

In any event I dont think anyone with a straight face can say either Russell or perriloux constitutes a "heady stable QB".

lsu has the most talent of any team in the nation...having said that...i am not sold on your Wrs...Green is a stud and Carter will be all sec in 2 yrs, i just dont know about the other guys...No way your WRs are better than ours... As for Russell and perilloux...I just am not sold on Russell...he was a stud coming out of high school but last year he showed that he was just average...verdict is still out on phenom perriloux... i think flynn will be your QB....verdict is still out on Myles as well IMO...

I never quite understood why Slick Nick didn't give him more of a chance. Recently departed members of Saban's staff told me personally that Flynn had a better grasp of the offensive scheme last year than Russel or Randall.

Jim, Frank..whatever. Your point on his previous success is well-taken.

As for Russel being heady....no way. I have longed for Flynn to get reps all along.

I am assuming you had a brain fart but let me clear things up for you.

LSU might be the 2nd most talented team in the country but without a doubt USC has the most talent. Lets look at few examples. USC's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd string QB's (Leinart, Booty, Sanchez) are all more highly regarded than all of LSU's. USC has 2 of the top 5 RB's in the country (Bush and White). USC's 3rd and 4th string WR's were ranked #1 in the nation coming out of high school yet are not starters. The list goes on and on.

3 straight top recruiting classes. No team in the country comes close to USC in terms of having 5-star talent from high school. USC set recruiting records for most 5-star recruits in a class. The average ranking for USC recruits was over 4 stars!!!!! This is unheard of and Carroll has entered in uncharted waters! SCARY!!!!!! Since recruiting services have been established, no program has assembled the type of talent Carroll has put together. This is a fact!

Maybe the most compelling argument is from multiple NFL scouts who come to USC practices. They said "every starter on USC's offense will be drafted by the NFL."

IMO, there are prob. only 2 positions where LSU outclasses USC. DB's and DT's but that has more to do with 2 starters being forced to leave USC.

Need more examples?

The question regarding talent is purely subjective. In fact, I could care less whether you, Trev Alberts, Phil Steele or John G. Roberts find USC to the most talented team in the cosmos.

All I know is that you are obviously a young dork, who shamelessly promotes all that is USC and PAC10. For a bright guy --most dorks are--, you seem to have extreme difficulty distinguishing between fact and opinion. I have said it before, and most likely will say it again.......Please go get yourself a nice piece of ass. I promise it will take the edge off.

FYI, LSU also has top 3 rated high school WRs, who will not start -----> Early Doucet and Xavier Carter. Who gives a $hit about that?? I know that I do not. I am just happy that my Alma Mater has a top quality football program and on 7 Saturdays a year my friends and I host day-long tailgate parties that you stuck-up SoCal dweebs couldn't even dream of.
