Richard "Dick" G. Brown
GALION: Richard "Dick" G. Brown, Sr., 73, of Galion, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at his residence after a short illness.
Dick was born in Ford City, PA on December 15, 1940 to the late Richard J. and Alva Jean (Lemmon) Brown. His father died in WWII so he was also raised by his late stepfather, Albert Scripps. He graduated from Ford City High School in Pennsylvania in 1959. Dick married Barbara Joan Zellefrow on August 19, 1961 and she survives him. They opened their first restaurant, BJ's, in the Seltzer Station Mall in Crestline. They then opened two restaurants in Galion, BJ's and Granny's, where he spent countless hours chatting and gossiping with customers. He worked at PPG in Crestline from 1961 until his retirement in June of 2001.
Dick was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting and school events, vacationing with them, and just visiting at his home.
He enjoyed attending car shows and owned a 1975 Cadillac Eldorado and 1950 Buick. He worked crossword puzzles whenever he could. He had a great sense of humor and was very quick witted.
