I can hit one of the water parks around Houston, Schlitterbahn I think. The water parks in Baton Rouge and Gulfport are pretty low end.

How old are your kids? I think it's ok but Grapevine is only 20 minutes from me so it's no big deal. I doubt I would travel to go there. My kids like it but there are a lot better places to go IMO.

My kids are 8 & 9. One of their friends went recently and reported that the suites contain built-in cabins for the kids.

Talked to one of my friends regularly who has three kids. He says he hates and despises the place but the kids love it. He mentioned the reason is because they have screaming kids everywhere, but he has three of them himself so oh well.

I know this probably didn't help too much with your decision, but thought I'd mention it.

It's like twenty minutes from me as well Cie and the lodge is nice and the kids do love it, but you'd also be rather close to Six Flags and several other water parks such as hurricane harbor.

You'd also be 20 minutes from me and some drinks with dinner. Just sayin

No Schlitterbahn in Houston. Closest one is in Galveston and it is a shit hole.

Best place I've been is Schlitterbahn in Gruene, TX (just outside of San Antonio). Lots of other stuff to do there as well. Fiesta TX, Sea World, Alamo, etc.

I was at the one in WI this spring - the kids liked it for about a day. Kids are 10 and 12. It's fun, but nothing like an outdoor water park where you can really get some good thrilling rides. Everything in the Lodge was pretty rinky dink.
I see they have one over here in Grapevine, the kids didn't even get excited by it. If you've got real little ones, might be good for a day or two - but I don't think it's worth driving 3 hours for.
