he is the only one which would be worse than the everyday meltdown of college and pro basketball teams this and every other season.

they score 50 or 60 points first half and cannot scores 30 2nd half. I relate this to me shooting 32 on front 9 and 50 on the back nine. have shot 32 many times but have not shot 50 on 9 holes in over 40 years.

On the course!
If he'd have won, no one would remember the name Van De Velde.

The loss etched his name in the minds of the world.

Thanks for sharing.. I was at Winged Foot in '96 on Saturday and Sunday...when your there you really don't know what is going on...we heard Mickleson hit the tent..but didn't see it..we are spread all over the place...following different people...we look up at the leader board and try to figure out what happened...sometimes when you there you have to ask people what happened..or hear 2 holes over the crowd roar...what happened...its still great being there but you are out of the picture...when you sit home and watch it in front of your tv you are much more knowledgeable...was at Shinnock a few yrs back and lived right near Westchester Open..Been to that about 3 or 4 times.. My roommate in college caddied there all thru HS and college..but that was so interesting watching those collapsings.

this is an absurd and horrible comparison.

basketball teams are coached by a coaching staff. sometimes their scouting and planning is completely off and they get shit stomped in the first half. then they go in at halftime and make adjustments. works both ways when a team scores 20 points in the 1st half and comes out and scores 50 in the 2nd half.

comparing that to the front and back 9 of a round of golf is insane.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, will ever top Jean van de Velde, ever.

THATS FOR SHOULD......

I've played a lot of golf worldwide, and I've witnessed some meltdowns, but that debacle at the British Open was the most horrendous of all time......incredibly stupid, but very hard to watch, nonetheless!
