Day off today at the Marina at noon to catch some Grouper 'candy'...pinfish...6 of 'em and I'm off the dock by 1:00pm

Got a little breezy 3 miles out, rock n roll, 3 to 5 foot seas. No cup holders on a centerconsole boat, beer in the cooler was the last thing I wanted on ice...told my self..."I will not get seasick, never have and not today"

Brand new Penn BaitCaster reel, 1st cast...bait chewed and an underwater tree branch boated

Second Pinfish hooked up live (palm sze live bait) and I spin the reel.....(tangled the line)...pole bends...I can't reel, tangled...40 lb test...then nothing....pull the line in retire the pole...knot was no good

3rd live pinfish, wind and seas picking up, clouds moving in...feeling like I'm on a Tilt n Twirl ride at a carnival...

FISH ON...something took it and ran....beared down...felt like reeling in a couple of cement blocks....

15 minutes later I pull up another big ol bottom of the sea branch, lean over the rock and roll boat to free my line and HOLY CHIT...A FUGGIN" SHARK!!!

I cut the line as close to the hook as possible, looked like a Nurse Shark...hook will disolve in a week or two...it was like pullling a wet bag of cemenet out of the sea....on a carnival ride:mj07:

Hey Bad, went fishiing in Cape Cod a few years back and caught a lot of those pink fish that UGA posted they called them scarp? Are they the pinfish that you're talking about?

Pin Fish here are Grouper 'candy'....small pin's ..small bluegill size...the pins I caught and used today were palm size...had to wear a glove to handle them...dorsal fin is full of pins, and painfull...all the fish here are mean mutha fuggers..

that's why I stay on the dock or in a boat or a car :142smilie

When you guys stay in, we kiteboarders get out and enjoy wind, water, and swells... Will be down in the keys soon, taking the sea express from Ft. Meyers, will let you know the specific date as I loved to get you a beer. Love the stories.

Let me know when you'll be this way Woodson! Several kiteboarders out today 20 to 30 mph winds.

I'll have another fishin' story just after the first of Dec., two brothers and another friend from KC down for a week then, fishing one day and cruising another (boat bar hopping). 5 days off while there here :00hour
