Probably a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway...

The kiddos got Guitar Hero for Christmas from their grandparents. I think it's the older version...or the original (World Tour), but I guess I don't follow it that closely...

Anyway, there are dozens of songs that can be played on the back of the box....but when you try the 'set list', there is only access to maybe 10 or so, and a bunch of 'studio' stuff that's pretty random. The instructions are pretty vague and don't tell much about the song lists.

Do these additional songs need to be 'unlocked' in some way or am I not looking in the right spot??

If I hear Livin' on a Prayer again, I am gonna go bananas!

Any ideas?!? Thanks...

yea..buy kids stuff that 3 months from now they don't play with anymore. Then go buy some newer toys so you can repeat the process.

Which leads to craigslist and yard-sale..

It's a beautiful thing....

i usually dont get into games like this but its addicting...especially if you play the good songs ;)

I can only use 4 keys though....I suck trying to use all 5

That's 4 more than me! My son plays Rock and Roll All Night for me, KISS fan that I am.

I like the Metallica songs too!

It's an interactive video game that teaches you how to play guitar to songs. The way it works is the guitar you use has different colored circles/shapes on it, and the screen will tell you which circles to hit on the guitar and when (and the song plays on the TV at the same time). So if you do it right, you're actually playing the song on the guitar. It's a pretty clever way to teach kids (or anyone for that matter) how to play guitar, IMO. It's a lot more entertaining than paying somebody to give them lessons, plus it's a video game so of course kids are going to love it.

I really don't have a lot of experience with it so there are probably others who can describe it better, but that's what I know about it.

let me try it this way...

you have the wii thingee hooked up to your tv.....you crank it up and the cgi guys from whatever band they`re using start playing....

what do you do?...is it just like being at a concert?....

i`ve seen these things where you play tennis with a little racket or golf with a golf club......and it simulates playing those games....it`s competitive like those games where you kill bad guys and stuff....

but what are you simulating with this thing?...picking up and banging hippie chicks?...does it come with pseudo-doobies for the kids?....

the interaction is what i`m missing here...

50 ain`t supposed to be that old.....maybe i`ve been in the bunker too long...wtf?

btw..i interactively went out and got a case of coors....and it`s f-cking scary cold...you could die out there...

From what I remember, the screen just shows a guitar fretboard and the frets light up showing you how to play along with the guitar you use. You just play the guitar based on what the screen shows you to do. It's nothing more than teaching you how to play songs on guitar. No groupies, no coke whores, no illicit sex on tour buses, none of that. I think that's the next version, though.

I remember throwing 100 yard passes with Marino to Duper on Tecmo Bowl, but I didn't get an f'ing Isotoner Gloves contract like that prick did. Video games can really let you down I tell ya...
