Me at the orphanage swamped with kids and fighting for my lap. They get very jealous of your attention. They also kept making me flex my muscles over and over.

Day 5
Another day in the clinic. Today was hernia day for the men; I checked 3 for complaints of groin/testicular pain. All 3 were ok thankfully after turning their head and coughing [emoji3] I had a couple of patients with bronchitis and some with arthritis. The constipated lady did not return, so hopefully she was able to go on her own.
We went into town and saw a lady who can not walk. She's elderly, so they just try to manage her with supportive care and make her as comfortable as possible. During our walk to her house, several children joined us. They like to hold your hand when you are walking, and they are so sweet. I'm going to try to get tapatalk downloaded on my wife's phone and post from it because she has a lot of nice pictures. Hopefully I can do that later this evening.
This is New Years Eve, so there are festivities here planned for the adults and children. I'm not sure what all we will be doing, but I know that eating pumpkin soup is a New Years tradition that dates back to the Hatian Revolution (I think maybe the French eat pumpkin soup?).

Pics from tonight with the orphans. They are trying to keep them all up until midnight, but many are falling asleep. There was a nighttime soccer match that was incredibly boring. Final 0-0 and as boring as boring can be. We have enjoyed the kids, and they love your attention and time. Just simply holding them they love. 0600 wake up time tomorrow to serve the pumpkin soup to all the local people.

Yesterday was spent helping with VBS and doing come clinic work. I have tons of pics and videos, but have had no success downloading them. Today, we went to a remote fishing village to do a clinic. Grass huts, and no kind of running water or latrines. Very, very poor people. I did treat one guy that was about 6'4" 190 and chiseled. Huge for a Haitian. I think he is a diver; he complained of ear pain, and he had a terrible ear infection. I hooked him up with some antibiotics and medication for pain. I also had the usual vaginal infection/UTI, headaches, and stomach pain. One patient had a B/P of 240/130 
and the next highest was 170/115. We started them on treatment and referred them to our clinic, but follow up is tough for them especially considering their very remote location.
We had a party for all the orphans today where they could open their sponsors' gifts. It was an incredible, heart warming experience. I loved being able to see their joy. If you want to sponsor an orphan, I can definitely hook you up with that information when I get back. I know Smurphy sponsors one and maybe BBC, and my family has a few as well. The money 100% goes to them, and they are well cared for.
Hopefully I can get some pics to work later.

New Year's Day Pumpkin soup. The ladies cooked it all night, and we served it to the poorest children from the community (they had tickets given to them in preparation), and we also took big pots of it to several of the nearby fishing villages. We are some last night too, and it was supposing oh very tasty!
This is a picture of me with Taylen. She is 20 now, and she was an orphan than my mom supported from the age of 5. We met her in 2002 on our first trip, and my mom has seen her multiple times over the years because she has been in Haiti over 30 times. She loves my mom of course, and she is a great young lady now. She is starting back to school next week, and her English is fluent, so she is able to help with the groups that come in.
