Come on chopsticks you keep taking naps with no one watch those kids is just asking for trouble. You damn lucky that's all that happened. Maybe it's just me but that sounds irresponsible to me.

Well, vinnie, I'm not as lucky as you. You're probably married and your kids have a great nucleus of a family. You probably work and your wife stays at home and takes care of your kids. I don't have that luxury. I shouldn't have to call my babysitter if I want to take a nap. Like buddy said, I have to set some boundaries. I let my children get away with too much stuff. And one could say that I spoil them too much. I would rather have my children here with me while I took one than call their mother. Ironic how irresponsible I am, yet the court decided that I should be the primary custodian for my children and not their mother. You know what man, I don't have to defend myself to you or anyone else. And you are absolutely right, thank God nothing else happened to them.

I don't know what is like to be a single parent.

I'm sure your kids mean the world to you as do mine.

Good Luck to you.

Vinny, sounds to me like you are CLUELESS here (or have never had any children, and if you did, had a nanny to raise them rather than parenting them yourself) hmmmmmm..... do both children and parent/parents go to sleep during the night?? hmmmmm... do children sometimes wake up during the night?? as much as you would like to be able to supervise 24/7, it just ain't happening!!! even parents need sleep, and sometimes it will be at a time where the kids have had enough of it.

chops... it's only just begun for you dude ;) yup, that's the kinda trouble that 5 year olds will find whenever they get the chance...... i could tell you a few stories that gave me nightmares, but don't feel like typing that much right now (as i go to sleep at the same time my kids are sleeping...LOL)

i'll list a couple:

took doorknobs off of 5 doors before i woke up one morning (when 5 and 2 years old, and the 2 year old was the screwdriver culprit)

knocked a hole in a bedroom door (when 9 and 6) and both still deny it to this day!!! was the funniest cover up attempt i'd ever seen.... took a sheet of typing paper and several shades of tan/brown crayons...tried to color just like the grain of the door, cut out a piece of the paper and taped it over the hole.

it really gets brutal when they stop *snitching* on one another, and start covering everything up as a team because they realize they will need the other one to defend them one day.

BahamaMama - Thanks for understanding. You must be a single parent yourself. I guess I can start this off as one of my horror stories. And that is why since the kids were born, I've already developed grey hair. Man, your stories of your children put mine to shame.

I worked nights and watched mine during the day as well before they were school age. It's tough, and I know how hard that is. Don't know if I could handle it without my better half! Having no sleep is equivalent to or worse than being on drugs. Sometimes you are so overtired you could sleep through the second coming.

On the course!
I have always heard of children being called "curtain climbers", but never really knew anyone who experienced that!

give me a break...
Kids waking up in the middle of the night is a totally different situation compared with two 5 year olds left to fend for themselves during the day. Kids who wake up in the night are usually looking to climb into bed with mommy and daddy....not waking to tear the house apart....however, 5 year old kids during the day (when they are extremely awake....extremely impatient....and their attention span is extremely short) can be expected to do something like tear the house apart.....just lucky they didn't do something worse to hurt themselves or each other.

I'll tell ya now as a father of four, chit happens, no telling what was going through their minds as they flung from the curtains, maybe reenacting something they saw on TV, or something you and a girl friend did the night before :scared anyway it will be a good memory for you someday, and a lesson learned for all of you. Leave it at that, and enjoy life.

Peace,
ll

mcity - What the hell do you mean, "fend for themselves?" You say it as if I'm some sort of neglective parent and I dumped them in the street somewhere and went drinking with friends who sell drugs. Go fuhk yourself...

ok tough guy.....I'll do that!! :mj07: Let's see, two 5 year old kids in a house with a parent asleep....sounds like they were fending for themselves to me....truth hurts big guy!! Sometimes being a good parent means doing without some things.....in this case, you should've done without a little sleep!! Oh, and one more thing, any jackoff who uses the phrase "before I kill my kids" whether in gest or not is a phucking moron and someone worthy of like someone earlier said, getting your head bounced off of a couple of walls. I guess your dumba$$ doesn't watch the news or read the paper about all of these kids today who are literally being killed by their parents.....you're not very bright, you've proven yourself way too often already in this short thread.....so make like the good parent you are and put a tape in the vcr for the kids and go back to bed.....your brain is low on power and in need of some rest. Go ahead and talk some more chit chops....I'm done with ya.....I'll let you have the last word. :mj07:

mcity - ok dipshit, I deserve that one. You must be the lucky one who still lives at home with mom and dad and have them take care of everything for you. So, when you take your little nap, your mom watches over you so you don't have any bad dreams. You probably don't have any children and don't know what it's like to raise kids. It's alot easier to talk smack when the only responsibities in your life is to take the trash out for your parents at your age. You really ought to think about moving out on your own someday. And as far as reading further into the title of my thread, that's a complete laugh. By the way, you're a real gentleman for letting me have the last word...And here it is...DICKHEAD!!!

I can't really disagree with anyone on this thread who feels you shouldn't be taking a long nap in the middle of the day with two 5-year-olds running loose. You left them alone for "only 45 minutes". Holy crap man, they could have burned the house down in "only 45 minutes". How much time do you really think they would need to get in trouble? Obviously nowhere near 45 minutes...more like about 2. Suppose one of them turned on the stove or something?

Seriously, hire a babysitter. Why "shouldn't you have to"? You SHOULD WANT TO if you don't want your kids getting hurt and you're going to be taking naps instead of supervising them.

Ok, I haven't called you any names, but I'm sure you'll fire back and tell me to "fuhk myself" as you have the others. Fire away...tell me how you were in the right to leave them alone while asleep....
