Worked herring season in Naknek,AK for 3 weeks at 115 hrs per week..
Went back to Anchorage to rest, 2 days later job center offered me job to do early Salmon season in Whittier ....OK. Took job but had bad attitude from get go ....Room was good but no board had to buy junk food. Plant wasn`t automated head and gut was by hand with knife ...Have dealt with worse conditions ...I just didnt care worked about 3 days then went on a drinking binge for 3 more ...3 no shows gets you fired but i hooked up with an ugly woman and had a real good time ...Took the train back to Hostel in Anchorage and didnt feel bad one bit ..
If their are any young guys out thre that read this post and want to go to Alaska to be a crab fisherman ....I can tell you how to do it ...No B.S. the money is up there for many other things too. Esp if you have a CDL liscense .Dutch Harbor needs drivers always to work for longshoremans union...$26 per hr when i was there 10 years ago ...gotta be $30 plus now .....
