Wife forgot to take her phone out of her pocket. Jeans and phone went through a complete cycle in the washing machine. I have tried the rice thing for 3 days now. There is still a lot of water trapped between the glass/touch screen. Got phone from CostCo kiosk.

Should I let it sit longer in the rice? Attempt to open it up and let the water out? Bring it back to CostCo and see what they can do?

Bring it back to Costco. Tell them you were watching Titanic in High-Def and at the end when Jack and Rose are in the water, your iPod Touch started leaking water.

It's been three days. Water is visibly trapped in there. Guess I'll wait a little longer for it to dry on it's own. Definitely not going the hair dryer route.

If it is within 60 days of purchase they should refund the item. If it is over the 60 days.........:sadwave:

Open it up, then set it in a sunny spot for a day. This used to dry out my watch.

Mine went for a swim this past summer.....Stuck it in a bag of Rice and put it in the freeze for a week as instructed from the Verizon Store. Took it out, was 100% dry and worked fine

A young guy that works for me tells me his iphone worked like new after 7 days in rice. But, he dropped his in a toilet, which would likely allow for less water intrusion than an entire wash cycle. He did not freeze his phone. Good luck....

Okay... Did the rice thing and even put the phone outside to bake in the sun as suggested. Did not work. There was still condensation under the glass plate.

Here is what I did and the phone is now in perfect working condition. Lay the phone upside down (glass face down) on top of a computer modem. The modem puts out just enough heat to evaporate the water inside the phone without burning any of the circuits. It took only 2 days to completely dry out everything. The phone was put in a rice bag for over a week without success. Rice has worked before with my other non-touch cell phone. I guess baking it in the sun would work too, but the weather was too humid and temperatures were in the 40's when I tried that method.

Anyway, if your phone ever gets a dip, be patient. Try the modem trick.

Merry Christmas!
