For a puzzle I'm trying to figure out. A _ will represent an unknown numeral. Thanks, I can't get it solved.

4, _, 12, 14, _0, 42, _ _, 1_2, _ _8

A is (6)+2. For instance. First number is 6. Double it gives 12 add 2 you get 14. Add 6 you get twenty double it add two 42 next is 48 double it add two

I don't think that works after the 48 going by the numbers and missing spots he has left for us to fill in.... Am I wrong?

Yeah, that 96 is extra...

Thanks , fdc, I think ur all over the right answer. I don't think it can b 10 either bc it is just a one digit number.

4, 6, 12, 14, 30, 42, 74, 112, 188

4 , 6 , 12 , 14 , 30 , 42 , 74 , 112 , 188

4+6(+2)=12
6+12(-4)=14
12+14(+4)=30
14+30(-2)=42
30+42(+2)=74
42+74(-4)=112
74+112(+2)=188

+2 -4 +4 -2 +2 -4 +2 = 0

I liked the
+2
-4
+4
-2
+2
-4
Until the last +2, It would have followed the pattern if instead of +2 it was +4 like above

But I put enough time in to it that I'll be damned if I don't post my wrong answer regardless.

Glad I got here late... I gotta finish my taxes but this would have been the ideal diversion. I really don't mind paying taxes but god damn could it be a bigger pain in the ass! We need a flat tax...

More info... The 4th, 5th, and 7th missing numerals are identical. Does that help any of u sleuths?

Thanks for trying too, Josh! Give it a run lance and comfortable!

Here's my deductive reasoning

1. Looks like all of the numbers end in even amounts

So we know that the 1st numeral
is either 6 or 8

2. It appears that the numbers are ascending

So we know it is 6 or 8 because that is Greater than 4 and Less than 12

Using this information our Multiple Choice Becomes

a. 6 or 8
b. 20 or 30 or 40

So now we should be able to plug in

4, (6/8), 12, 14, (20/30/40), 42

Enough that we should be able to spot a pattern in 1 of these 6. Although I haven't. Tranny Rolls are much easier to spot.

4, 6, 12, 14, 20, 42

4, 6, 12, 14, 30, 42

4, 6, 12, 14, 40, 42

4, 8, 12, 14, 20, 42

4, 8, 12, 14, 30, 42

4, 8, 12, 14, 40, 42
