Hollow hype:0002 He is a ratings monster, is the best player in the world today and is the best player in the history of golf. Obviously, Espn is going to promote Woods over Matt Kuchar, who has won 4 times in his career, has made 169 of 271 cuts and is unknown to the general public.

Woods career numbers

287 tournaments played and 267 cuts made...lol

230 top 25 finishes out of 267 cuts made....lol

74 wins.... lol

14 majors including 7 out of 11 at one point....lol

Never said he hasn't had a great career and a great 2012 for that matter. He "was" the best in the world(not rankings as that is another story) at one point hands down and no one could argue it. Imo there are those just as good now and even those that are not quite as talented are not just folding to him. Best ever? No way of ever telling that so just conjecture by either side.

Somehow this has turned into me thinking he sucks, where I was merely pointing out that he actually needs to win another major before we keep handing them to him before they start. Like you said though, ratings will mean we only have a few weeks before the "Tigers PGA to lose" segments start:facepalm:

Agree with this angle and I would play him up whenever he is in contention. You either love him or hate but you always watch him. No need to aplogize for 3rd place. BTW, where was the great Phil?

BTW, where was the great Phil?

"While practicing drills
he felt some chills
He practiced more
but lost his skills
swallowed a pill
to cure his ill
now his comeback
is all uphill
Left the course
in a shiny Seville
Flew to London
Then to France
talked with Francois
about his stance
"Show me again,
and we'll review"
Because I don't know
and neither do you.
Perplexed was Phil
"I need hope and change"
One option remains ~
"Back to the range!"
Short irons, mid irons,
woods and putts
"Oh, woe is me!
I'm justa' klutz!"

Yes there is not need to apologize for a 3rd at a major but all Tiger cares about at this point is winning. He could give two shits about finishing 3rd. I find it very entertaining when he gets close and comes up short. Got to feel for Scott. That was brutal.

Agree, and is a big part of my point. He may very well get back to as good as he was as far as playing a round of golf, but the landscape of golf and those competing against him has changed. There was a time that all he had to do was sniff a leader board and everyone accepted they couldn't beat him. Most didn't have the talent to beat him and those that did didn't think they could. Now that fear is gone with some and never even existed with some of these young guns that came into frame during his "down time". I equate it to poker. A decade or two ago Helmuth and his ilk railroaded games because they were big shots. These young poker guys today couldn't give a shit about what used to be or who you are. I fully expect Tiger to win a few more majors given his talent and the number he still has to play, but if "tiger is back" is supposed to mean he is going to dominate like days old, it aint happening folks:sadwave:

Tiger raised the level of global awareness in the sport, plus he raised the level of fitness and physical training on tour. He has had a more positive impact on his sport than anyone in my lifetime. Although he has been the best player in the world this year imo, and, barring injury, there is little reason to think that he won't compete at a world class level for another few years, I still feel it's unlikely for him to win 5 more majors. Not only is he approaching 40, but the deeper talent pool on tour, which his greatness helped create, will continue to be far more difficult to traverse than the one he dominated 10 years ago.

Why "feel" for Adam Scott? I guess if he shot 67, and someone plopped in a 200 yard shot to beat him.....yeah, you could feel sorry.

He dead choked away this thing. That's all you will see in Open highlight clips in years to come.

Listening to the radio yesterday morning, they pretty much gave him the win already.

Or because hes a lying cheating womanizer that was banging everything in Perkins sight.

Pretty sure its the infidelity more than the half blackness.

I'll give you that. But, I wonder how many of these holier than thou types are merely jealous that woods could pull more wool than them?

HELL
In my opinion....

He swings way too hard anymore. Distance is not a issue, so I dont know why he doesnt tone it down a little and play a controlled fade.

I seen him try to hit 7-irons this week 220 yards. WTF? I have also noticed watching him, when the pressure builds up or he gets tense the hooks come, and IMO that comes from nerves-being emotional-and too fast.

Next, on one breath he goes at everything like a bulldozer piercing through the earth, and then when he gets to a 293 yard par 4 when you are down by 5 with a nice lay up or miss area to front right, he hits iron off of tee and blows a sand wedge from 100 yards over the green by some 20 yards. Hes confused, no game plan IMO.

Take my account for what it is, a weekend warrior that still hovers around a 9-10 handicap if I play due to job. I am not sure he is capable of staying clean for 4 rounds in a major anymore.

I Always liked Tiger. The announcers blowing him every weekend was a turnoff, but he was obviously the best and most exciting in golf.

What turned me off the most wasn't even his infidelity/banging multiple whores. For me, it was that he seemed not to take any ownership for his shortcomings and tried to get his PR people to blame it on some BS sex-fiend diagnosis. If you're wrong, admit it, apologize, and do better going forward.

He's a total proven douchebag now in my eyes, and I'll enjoy watching him pull off crazy impossible shots, but I'll always root against him unless it's against an even bigger douche like Monte. I also will root for him in Ryder Cup type events.
