What are some good fund raisers for a High School Sports Booster Club? Have any of you had any experience with these?

Some good friends of mines parents told me about a fundraiser that their local school did, and they sold those portable stadium chairs that hook onto the bleachers. Had the school logo on them and I think they said they cost like $30, but they sold out of them immediately. Something reusable and makes sitting on those bleachers alot more comfortable. Have no idea where to get them, but they were very popular.

I would line up with a local VFW hall and do a hold em tourney. Our local high school just did this and I assume made a killing.

It was $40 to enter ($55 if you paid the day of) and first place was $500. I think they had 125 people join.

I think the payouts total about $1200, so they probably cleared about 4k

Hey guys I run a swim team and we're always running some sort of fundraiser to raise money for our travel meets.

Our best three fundraisers this year have been:

1) Oldies Dance -- had the kids on the team act as servers/waiters/bus staff, got a band and rented out the local church basement. Made decent money on the admission but made the bulk of the money on raffled off gift baskets, all of which had a different theme. Each family donated one basket for the raffle (ie: Movie Night basket with a few dvds, popcorn, some sodas, other snack items, Going away to college basket with tons of school supplies/stuff for dorm life) We also get baskets donated from local resteraunts that are very popular.
Cleared about 5 grand this year which was a great fundraiser.

2) Like Captain Crunch said the seat cushions with a logo, we did those last year, custom towels this year, tons of ideas out there. Parents love sports themed gear with a logo supporting the team.

3) Good old car wash -- our team makes a grand easy on nice spring day washing cars. Virtually no upfront cost if you have a parking lot for your school and it's something the kids seem to enjoy. Have found we do better if we don't post a price, just ask for donations. Make sure the athletes are friendly, greet the people, talk about their season, make a donnection. Always get great feedback from these.

I'm always looking for more suggestions since as my team grows so does our need to raise money. If anyone has any other good ones please share.

A softball tourney in the summer. You play with the class you graduated in. $20 per person to play.

Double Elimination

Class of 84 vs Class of 89

You have 3 brackets.

Older Bracket 1980 and lower
Medium Age Bracket 1980-1994
Young Bracket 1995-2008

You make money selling beer and water which in the summer everyone wants. Also bar-b-que hamburgers. Find a place where there are 3 fields adjoing to each other so everyone cam mingle and visit.

I know ESPN runs a program where you get $6 dollars per yearly magazine subscription sold. I know it's not the greatest of ideas but if you're looking to get the kids involved people will typically throw $20 dollars around if they know they will get something in return that they want and it's a good cause. My team raised about 3k two years ago for new baseball equipment.

We always do best with our golf tourny. Make sure you dont go the cheap route though. We have found more people are willing to play if they are playing a nicer course. Most understand they are just donating money, so they at least want a nice course. Most golf couses unless corporate are willing to give you some free rounds as prizes so that can take care of some of the prizes. It is important even if you have to come out of your own pocket to have a good 1st place prize however because there are 3 or 4 teams that usually get in for 1st and not really the donating. You get businesses in the area to sponser holes and have the plastic signs made and put out on the hole they sponser (hopefully more than 1 per hole). How you price all of these things is up to you, but just remember the sponserships after the first year are the easiest money you will get as most feel obligated to reup if they did it last year. The first year is the most difficult as the logistics and such can be a pain in the ass, but after year one all your donars and players from last year are in place so there is not much planning and you also make more money as your sponser signs are now paid for. First year we cleared $3000 and for the last 4 we have averaged $5000-7000.

We also have had success with the casino nights as well. Not as good as the golf tourny but worth doing.

I plan on looking into the cushioned seats as we have concrete bleachers and could do well. When I find the site I will come back and post it.

Hope this helps

we did a bbq chicken dinner for our baseball booster every year. charge around $10 per plate (chicken, beans, slaw?) we would usually sell around 500 or more tickets, and they would pick them up at the concession stand on our alumi game day

At our last boosters meeting, I suggested that we have a batchelor auction. That is, some of the senior boys would be auctioned off for a date with a booster mom.

At the auditorium, the boys (mostly football, basketball players, swimmers and wrestlers) would each be presented for bidding, one at a time, dressed in a tux, swimsuit, basketball uniform or jockstrap and armour shirt, and bid upon by forty or so booster moms (aged 35 and up) after being wined up at a the neighborhood wings and beer joint for a night out with their favorite boy toy as a tax dedutible fund raising tool. If this worked, I suggested we could do the same thing with the booster dads and the senior girls.

The board said they would think about it and get back to me at the next meeting.

I'm on the Board of Directors for our local high school Athletic Booster Club. We have several fund raisers throughout the year. A few years ago there were budget cutbacks and one casualty was the transportation budget for athletics. Our booster club now pays the bill for this item.

In January we have a Cougar Cuisine night where we have local restaurants come into the high school cafeteria and bring several dishes. We sell tickets to the publics at $10 each. All food and drink are donated by the restaurants. We sold 800 tickets.

In May I'm in charge of our annual Golf Outing. This is the only fund raiser that we have that does not go towards the transportation budget. All funds from this golf outing go to the Big Blue Scholarship fund in which we award a $1,000 scholarship to a senior athlete. Last year we made just under $4,500.

During football season we work the concession stand for all games and keep all of the profits.

In the fall we have a fish fry during a home football game. Tickets are $6 and we usually have 700 - 800 people attend.

We also are in charge of all spirit wear items. At all sporting events we set up a table and sell t-shirts, golf shirts, sweat shirts, stadium chairs, etc.

We also produce the Fall and Winter sports programs that are handed out at all sporting events. While we pay for the printing, we sell all of the advertisements and make almost $15,000.

I'm also on the Baseball Backers Board and we just completed our first fund raiser of the year which was take and bake pizzas. We work with a local pizza chain and give them the number of pizzas we have sold. They order the ingredients for us at cost and then help us to prepare them. We then have a scheduled pick-up day at the school. We sell pepperoni, sausage and cheese pizzas for $7.50 each or if you order 5 or more at $7.00 each.

Hope this helps.
