auto insurance...home owners ins...emissions test fees for all vehicles(if you don`t pass a minimum repair expense is required in maryland...which means if you`re smart, preemptive visit to your mechanic)...property taxes.....tags every few years...federal taxes...state taxes...sales taxes....bottle tax...

every fricking fee and tax imaginable on your cable bill(most so obtuse nobody knows wtf they mean)....

now these mofos are asking folks to put a governor on their thermostats so some fuckwad bureaucrat can contol your utility usage...which basically means you sweat in summer and freeze in winter....

yeah,i went a little off topic...but i needed to vent...

I lived by myself for a year after having a roommate for a few years. Was going through a lot of crap too but early 2010 decided to move close to work and get a roommate.

Got a 2-bedroom apt less than 1 mile from work (helps with gas and so convenient). Cable/Internet/Water included. Basically we just pay rent and power. Their is a downstairs and then bedrooms are upstairs. Its not great but its not bad either.

Total expenses.....$420/month plus food, etc. There's no dishwasher or washer/dryer and it would be nice to have 2 full bath's (we have 1 1/2) but other than that.....

Of course I'm single so its easier to do something like this. But I plan to stay here a few years and get completely out of debt and save up for a house....I'm in no hurry to leave that's for sure. Might even save up for years and years and pay for a house with cash.

sounds like a nice situation for a young, single guy.......pay off your bills and try and save some bread....it`s a marathon, not a sprint...you`ll thank yourself down the road.......

Yeah....mid-30s so not too young and not necessarily ideal but a good situation nonetheless. I don't plan to get married anytime soon and really like my job so I've also thrown around the notion of staying here long-term and saving a lot, maybe retiring in my early to mid 50s.....who knows.

Right now its just nice to be out of that last apartment I was in and have some spending money again.
