Had the funeral today for Marianna.Last nite the wake.Over 200 kids from her senior class attended last nite and today.Over 100 of these kids were all off to college and had to return.Penn St,Vermont,North Carolina,Delaware were just some of the schools these kids came home to honor her.
I watched the long lines of students that wrapped around the funeral home.And what really hit me was so many of these kids were from all different walks of life.You had the athletes,cheerleaders,long hair,mohawks,gothic,etc. She touched everyone in her short 18 yrs.
I had about 3 or 4 different speeches prepared but told the homecoming story that I wrote here.It was pretty powerful and everyone even laughed a little.But what I didn't know was that her parents had her yearbook out at home and was reading it to all the students that came over to her house the other nite.Well the real homecoming queen was there and when Marianna's mother read what I said "your my homecoming queen,ect,] I felt a little awkward when I found out.
But real homecoming queen at the wake last nite brought her homecoming queen sash and put it on Marianna's casket. That was pretty awesome.Everyone cried.
With the sash or without...there is a homecoming queen up there looking down on us.She touched everyone and made us all a better person despite being here for such a short time.
It will take our High School some time for the healing process to set in.But what great kids we have.
Again thank you all for the kind words here.If I told most people that I can get some outlet by coming in a gambling sports forum and letting some feelings out they would say I'm crazy.But I know every one here is a little crazy.... and I love you all...
