So if you buy one of these houses you have to live in it? Are these places that are flipable or is that against the rules? Looks like a lot of these places just need some cosmetic work and cleanup. My mom just bought a house here in town to flip. Basically all it needs is carpet, paint, and some landscaping. She should make a good profit on it.

From what I have read, these houses will need a lot more than cosmetic work & cleanup....

They did similar in Baltimore in the 80's around the time Camden Yards was built. It was a shit area and they sold houses for $1. I don't remember the particulars, maybe Weasie does, but it was something like buy the house for $1, put $100K minimum in it, and live in it. It was a success I believe, and really helped the area out.

I read the article and I looked at some of the house pictures. I don't understand why you couldn't flip it- If you could remodel it and get it sold before the 6 months is up what would be the problem with that? If it gets sold then someone is going to be living in it right? Did you ever watch that show that they flip houses in Vegas- some of those they do in 10 days.

No I haven't seen that show....

I am not doubting what you say but I do have a few friends who flip houses & it always takes them more than 10 days....

These people are off the wall CrAzY!- It's a lot of drama and I'm 100% sure it is more than 10 days but "for tv purposes" they say "we have a deadline of 10 days and a tight budget of $10,000" and of course it doesn't show them doing all of it. One day they show no carpet and no paint in the house by quitting time and by 8 am the next day all the carpet is in and the whole house is already painted. On a tight budget of $10k how can you put in the countertops they are using- the tile/flooring/carpeting they are using and all the other stuff they are getting like all the appliances etc. I just spent about 8K doing my bathroom and they are doing a whole house for 10K? Hmmmmm.......
