There might be an occasional exception. Ron Paul has talked about Walter Williams as a possible VP, and Williams is a smart guy, but on the whole, no, I wouldn't vote for a black.

Paul has thrown a serious scare into the people who actually run the country.

...............................................................

They are not afraid of Ron Paul per se , they are afraid of people like you that support him.

agree with post #1; I don't think Obama can be elected. Down here in the 'dirty' South that the Sponge likes to denegrate so, he is considered half Muslim. That's not going to get it done. I'm voting for Hillary in the primary as that's the only thing I see I can do to give a no to Obama. If I don't like the Republican candidate, and Obama gets the nod, well, (I won't even delve into the horror of Obama vs. Romney :mj02: )

If you vote for Hillary you are just voting to change chairs in the white house. Nothing will change, just the same old good old boys and girls networks, blowjobs for willy, supreme court nomination for willy, on and on.

Obama can be elected. Young people 18-59 are his key. They put him over the top in Iowa.

He will be a good President. Give someone else a chance other than the same old crap we have seen for 10 fawking years. The same faces

McCain, Guilloni, Clinton, :142smilie

just go out and kill something will ya, you big dumb moose

Unbelievable thread.......

Some corrections and thoughts.....

Mahoney gotz baby's momma drama!

Ebonics 101: sorry smurph & bryanz.....its baby momma. Appropriate use of possesive contractions do exist in this dialect, which is in use by half of my patients. I have found it much easier developing a rapport wit my peeps through empathy and an understanding/approriate use of the lingo angle. (JK)

"All we got on this team are a buncha Jews, spics, *******, pansies, and a booger-eatin' moron!" ~Tanner Boyle, 1976

How the hell did this team win with Tanner and Englebert anchoring the defense up the middle? They were a joke until Kelly Leak started playing CF! At least Englebert had some pop. Tanner probably hit about .187, and no glove! I guess you can't put a real value on the contribution he provided thru truculence, hostility, and pugnacity:shrug:

On to Mahoney......Tanner all grows up. Who pissed in your cornflakes? Scorned by a woman? Lost job due to some BS affirmative action requirement? You are a walking, talking Exhibit A in the case against Homo sapiens being the last evolutionary branch. And if we ever have to cap the NFL to the death, I'm takin' either the Aussie.... Mr Christo, the (I think) Mexican fella Vicc Inzagio, or the Canadian dude in smurph's contest. I know thats outsourcing jobs, but its tough to argue with the facts.

I suggest Paxil.......maybe a Valium and a nice glass of Chardonnay thrown in there now and again. Or try substituting "Bless you heart" everytime you get the urge to say "white power." You seem reasonably literate, albeit misguided. Try to keep that Aryan crap in the 9/11 thread. Seriously.

I haven't seen anything like the Ron Paul phenomenon in my lifetime.
This is your's Mahoney, and we did see it in '92 on a much larger scale. Perot wasn't quite as extreme a constructionist as Pipe Dream, but the Texas-born grass roots insurgency had serious legs. He was leading nationally for a time over the media darling Clinton and a Republican incumbent coming off a 42-0 whuppin' of Saddam. I remember his major error was an accidental reference to "you people" during a speech at the NAACP convention. He was speaking in support of the economic plight of minorities, but got crucified by the media as being insensitive and racist because of one slip of the tongue. He had other deficiencies, but that event erased all his momentum. Paul will never be as close as Perot was to the White House. Why do you think Bloomberg is still lurking backstage? He might not run, but he sure as hell doesn't need to make the decision until the hype dies down after the two parties choose their knights. Just like the other RP, he just has to have his acolytes arrange the signatures to get on the ballots in each state, and wait for the opening provided by the media vacuum sure to occur after the conventions, especially since no current candidate appears able to carry off a mandate. He has the $$$$, the soapbox, and the requisite set of nuts to turn the whole shootin' match upside down. That should really get your hair standing on end.......the Jewish guy with power, $$$$, and a broad-based following. Better start building your bunker, just in case.

Too much coffee this morning.........thanks for listening.

Thanks a million, Doc. I have lost many nights of sleep over the years pondering this same question. And through the help of a brilliant therapist with amazing gams--one Dr Melfi-- I was able to put this behind me and get on with my life...until now....back to therapy for me. Can I get you to write me a few scrips for my favorite pharmacologicals ??

i really like ron paul, but not because i do not like women/blacks.

i had hoped powell would run a few years back and beat bush.

i do feel that ron paul is a candidate that does tell the truth , but no one will ever know. i just don't think he will get the greedy repubs acceptance.

not sure what he can do as an independent.

He can't do nothing. It's up to you. Talk to people, give money, give time, there are others that think like you but , like you, they think they don't matter. If you are for Paul go for it , follow your conscience. We are trying to defeat a system and a government that is owned by corporations that owns the media, that owns our government . It's not up to the republicans, it's up to the American People. New voters can crush the core of these two parties with votes. (side note ) It is pitiful that we can't ensure that every vote is counted. Bush wants to nation build, He brings lip service to free elections for the world but every American can't say with 1000000000000% certainty that OUR elections are crystal clear. THERE SHOULD BE NO DOUBT , THAT EVERY VOTE IN EVERY ELECTION THAT IS HELD IN AMERICA IS COUNTED & COUNTED AS CASTED. There should be no questions from the left, there should be no questions from the right, our elections should be bullet proof. I'm not blaming this on Bush but this is his watch. The first thing our next President should do is secure our elections then secure our borders. I'm not against immigration, I'm for making the American dream legal. Bring them on, We have more than enough, if we elect and support care takers that look out for the wealth that the bag men take to Washington. If the American people want a chance to see what we could be and should be, put a line threw : clinton, edwards, rudy, mitt, and mc cain. forget the single issues, think big , think what could be not what can't be !

Was Mahoney banned?

I hope not... I'm a million miles away from him but we need him. He inspires me, he should inspire you. Their out there, banning doesn't change it. Bring it on ! It's all good, we can't get to the summit without guys like him. Nothing better than the exchange of ideas. If we want nirvana, we can't step over people, we have to bring them with us.

DTB, I'm personally satisfied with America also, I think we are among best that the world has to offer.. I was taught from an early age to be the best and keep reaching. If you new my mother and my father you would understand. If you new my grandmother you would understand. I'm not spitting in the face of America, I love her. As an American there is no doubt that we can do better and I don't understand how any American can think that we shouldn't do better. I'm me, you are you. If you are satisfied, God bless you. I wish I was you. I wouldn't have to thrive tomorrow. If I can't try and make every day better than the last; what's the point. I think we are better than the way we have chosen to execute this war on terror, I think we are better than the drugs and the other poisons we allow to flow over our borders, I think we are better than the people we allow to run our government because some of us wont vote, I think we are better than the education we give our children, I could go on. I'm fine and I'm sure you are too but America is bigger than you and me. We are free men in a free country, that comes with some responsibility, that's just how I see it. Sometimes I put my blinders on and shut it down, they don't stay on for long. I wish I could see what you see.

Some frighteningly ignorant comments have been made in this thread. But there are so many of them, that it's hard to tell which ones are the worst.

Eventually, after posting enough, you can learn a lot about people. I've learned some in here - and some of it sickens me.

Leave it to a white man (I assume) to say the only people qualified to select a representative of our country of so many colors, ideals, and at least two different sexes should be rich white men. :00x16

As for Obama, I think to continue to say that a black man or a woman, in this day and age, cannot be elected is just being short-sighted. My opinion. They are routinely elected to state, national and local governmental positions, lead Fortune 500 companies, and currently represent two of the highest polling candidates up for election as our next President.

Obama appeals to youth, minorities, women, and is charismatic in the same way JFK was. He appeals to people who see a positive, hopeful message and option, and could be a strong force moving forward.

I'm not saying he SHOULD be the President, but I certainly would not say he can't be. I think that in this election, as much as in any before it, the Vice Presidential candidates could make a big difference, too.

He sure won't play well in the rich KKK club, though, will he? Somehow, I doubt he gives a rats ass what those people think, and hopefully most people won't either.

I agree but Obama also appeals to the majority and men. Iowa said so.

This thread reminds me of guys that won't bet on teams with black quarterbacks. They adhere to this like it was gold.

Gender or nationality should not be a prerequisite for anything, except who you are going to bang that night. It's like putting another obstacle in your own way that was never there.

I think things were better back in the day when it was the norm to hate and despise the Irish and treat them like the lowest form of life. Imagine people hating on white men? At least the female population of the Spanish blows away anything the Irish can pony up now or then. (Excluding any of this forums significant other of Irish decent, esp golfers)

Although your corrections are absolutely appreciated, I believe you are being racist and very politically incorrect when you assume that we were attempting to use ebonics. Just as there is now a 'Spanglish', holms - there is also now a 'Whibonics', aka ebonics-english hybrid. Please stop mocking my language and culture.:nono:

This is a phenominal analysis of a true throwback team. Closest thing we've had to the '76 Bears was probably the '88 Dodgers. See, once you reach the playoffs all you need is 1 great pitcher (Jewish preferred), 1 hot hitter, 1 drunk manager, 1 fast black guy, a couple Mexicans, and an opponent that's easy to hate and rally against. At that point anything is possible.

And yes - although Tanner's stats were putrid, he brought many intangibles to the team. Perhaps the best example of this was the way he stood up for his boy Lupus. Without Tanner's relentless encouragement, Lupus never would have caught that crucial fly ball against the Yankees or had the defiant attitude that led to him throwing the 2nd place trophy back at their dumb faces.
