Before you rest your hat on the fact they won the ACC regular season take a look at the unbalanced conference schedule.
UNC only beat 1 of the top 11 teams in the conference in a road game. It was a close win over Wake Forest.
They lost at Duke, UVA, Miami and at number 11 Ga Tech. They did not have to play at FSU, Louisville, Notre Dame , Va Tech and Syracuse. Duke did travel to UVA, UNC, Miami, Louisville, ND,Va Tech , Wake and Syracuse.
UNC's best win away from home was over Wisconsin and it was on a neutral court. Their toughest
road nonconference game was a blowout loss to Indiana.
Due to the expanded conferences for TV money you have unbalanced schedules. I think the committee needs to give more weight to conference tournaments and road wins whil giving less to regular season conference winners.
That being said if UNC advances to regional final versus Kentucky in Memphis they will think they are playing a road game. UK fans travel well.
