cost me straight up and 4 team parlay if they do not score, but might have scored anyway if he goes for it.
one of the stupidest decsiions i have ever seen. i had no money on the game, but total idiot move.
if they were playing under better conditions i could understand it, maybe.
however, there was no threat of a deep pass with that wind - he should have went for it to give his team the best chance of winning. imo

Exactly what I was going to say gjn....their weak attempt at trying to justify the stupid decision was even muddled in their futility at grasping for straws. You better go for the td when you're that far down the field. It's plays like this that always get the conspirators going. Once it was 4th and 7, I think the FG was the right call. There was nearly 4 minutes and all they had to do was stop Pitt. They couldn't stop them. IF THEY DID and got the ball back in decent field position then everyone would be talking about what a good decision it was.

Look - it all comes down to execution. Cleveland lost because they couldn't execute all night, not because of that one decision by the coach.
If your bet is depending on that decision by the coach, then well ...it's like complaining that you lost a coin flip.
IF Cleveland stopped Pit on the next possession everything would look different. They couldn't execute that so they lost.

Smurphy, I totally disagree with you. I had no money on the game but no matter how you look at it they needed a TD to do anything. Why not take two shots at a TD instead of 1(or just potentially 1)?
Even if they stop Pitt, Pitt then punts and they have to drive the length of the field. I could see kicking the FG if the game had been high scoring, but they had problems all night moving the ball and they where about as close as they could be so why not keep going.

I lost 500 on it and yeah, i think Romeo is either a really bad decision maker or tried to cover the spread. Everybody knows Pitt runs the clock down with ground and pound in final minutes. He didn't even have all his T.O. bad call, dumb move and we got screwed!!
Before chiming in with the sour grapes comment, you should at least make a little sense. First off it wasn't 4 minutes, it was 3:24. Second Cleveland had already burned a timeout, only having 2 left. Third they had only completed 1 pass the entire game over 20 yards, and only 3 over 10 yards.
Fourth as layin wood pointed out, 3 points did nothing, they were still down 4 needing another touchdown anyway.
Further, they wouldn't have got the ball In good field position if they held Pittsburgh,because they pooch kicked the kickoff, and Steelers got the ball on 31 yard line, so any decent punt would have put Cleveland deep in their own territory anyway.
I agree they should have been playing for 4 downs on that drive. But once it was 4th and 7, I have no problem with taking the FG. Again - if they just could have executed on defense, the outcome might have looked a lot different.
What would have happened if all of you were on Cleveland? Would there be a thread on how great Romeo is? Getting "screwed" in the NFL is just the nature of the beast. Kicking the field goal was neither a right nor wrong call. It was just judgment.
