How much longer until cable companies and Directv are obsolete?

So many options to get content through an app and most TV's are capable of downloading apps now, and if not you have options like Apple TV, Firestick, etc...

I'm real close to not needing Directv anymore. If I could get my local sports without them or a cable company I could cut the cord 100% at this point. I watch so few channels and with Youtube TV and ESPN+ it's getting to the point I'm tired of paying for a package that I only watch 5 channels.

It's gonna be soon.

Do it? I invested some time researching last summer. I bought a good quality HD antenna which gets all local stations in Boston and Providence crystal clear all 1080. Then with Kodi Solutions (five dollars a month), you can get every channel you could ever imagine. All major league tickets/red zone/P per view all included. Only issue is you still need to pay for Wi-Fi, of course should be able to get it for around 50 or 60 bucks a month. Still one third of what my cable bill used to be.

Was thinking about this very thing..

My kids watch Netflix only.. And if I can get the sports I dont need cable.. We have every pay channel and its a complete waste

including live daily programing if any..........

I only watch sports I bet. I watch American greed and shark tank when I go to bed if it?s on. I don?t do tv but my wife....She needs cnn, bravo, truetv, whatever station those housewives shows are on, travel, amc, food network. That kind of stuff.

the cut the cable guys and girls can better help you now..


what killed the deal for the wife was she would not be bothered to search for shows #1

#2 ...she couldn't record 5 shows at one time as she can now..actually more but will not bore you with the details. she must have live tv in the morning with pause ,record,ff,reverse etc...

we have a firestick loaded and use it for movies ........

Directv gave me NFL Supermax for $105.00 this year so I can watch 8 games at one time and NO CONTRACT 53.00 a month Choice Package 3 rooms to get me to stay another ..which is year 23........

and ..........Vikings games can be recorded for playback as well............

Thanks OS. I think I?ll get one for my office and mess with it before I get one for the wife and quit Comcast. It sounds like Shamrock might have the answers I?m looking for, I hope he replies. Or I?ll email him. I have no clue about these things. I was never interested in reading the threads about it because I don?t watch tv but I?m sick of Comcast sticking it to me. Wife will have to learn a new way. I?m paying $225 a month for internet and cable and pretty basic tv too. Total ripoff.

I had to call Comcast yesterday to add NFL Network so I could watch my so called team stink up the joint. Harbaugh has to go, along with the rest of the staff. They?re going nowhere under him.

Similar situation here. I could be done with cable today but my wife loves Bravo, TLC, etc. and the ability to tape that crap so she can binge watch it on the weekends. I already bought the antenna but no point in using it if we don't cut cable.
