we have one one of the largest sites traffic wise here at madjacksports for the upcoming nfl season on the web,

would you like me to put up a poll each week for each nfl game with spreads and totals for a public consensus ?,

would no doubt be the best consensus indicator on the web if a majority of members voted.

just throwing out ideas?

I rarely go to that forum. Reason is there is too much information in each thread for me. It's like reading a science paper that has no hypothesis or conclusion.

Please understand I'm not dogging it. It's just not what I look for. It's a great handicapping tool and I know lots of work goes into it, but I get a far better feel seeing who has a game of the year in the NFL forum and going opposite. My favorite threads in the NFL forum each week are the ones where guys post who their book is heavy in, threads like Clem Ds where he posts his office pool, or ones like Nole posts regarding his fade.

I think your idea is good, and maybe a consensus watch could be incorporated too? I also use the handicapping links you have posted if I want to look up something.

I think the NFL Matchups forum will be more interesting to read if guys (and BahamaMama and Hippo, Hooters) would do more original writeups on their local teams or a team of choice.

The copy/paste stuff is a lot to wade through and less appealing to me than somebody posting what they heard on the weekly coaches show on AM radio.

It does help when you bold or itallic key passages in a long article so I can skip around and glean any nuggets.

If interested posters would pick a team to "cover" and try to post up any information from local papers/radio/TV we might learn something -- from a wagering perspective -- that can't be learned elsewhere.

As far as concensus polls, you usually have to fade any heavy consensus I have found over the years. Especially a 70% + concensus of touts.

I'll throw out an idea. I don't know if the forum willl like it or not, but lets see.

TRENDS

I find myself often going to the goldsheet to see what a teams last five meetings have been like against a certain team. I think this helps my handicapping. Why don't we have a tool where we can just "click" on team 1's icon and then click on team 2's icon and see what there last 5 matchups have been like (score, who was the home team, etc.). Seems like a useful tool to have in the NFL forum for me instead of having to navigate around websites to get the info.

What do you think?

if possible

post consensus numbers on what the public is betting

what the initial money is on when the lines are put out and how they are betting up till 1st kick

also

consensus numbers all of our beautiful touts moves (tonight they lost on Zona)

lastly

more pics of extremely hot naked chicks, preferably of the malato (sp) variety

I've had some long talks with 4bubba. This thread shows why he was so frustrated.

Very few want to do the work, even simple things like reading 4 paragraphs that would have given you insight to a winner. There was great stuff in there every week.

And it was set up to be subjective, information only. What's wrong with that?

As far as concensus numbers, they are a dime a dozen on the net if one would care to open up a couple of windows and keep track.

all info is a dime a dozen if you want to take the time to find it. i think IE is trying to see what people want so he doesn't have to retire the forum that 4bubba took care of for the last 4 or 5 years. bubba did a great job and he's not here to run it anymore and IE will try to keep it going for the people that liked it.

what's wrong with that?

That's what I try to do now

along with some other things

Figured I would add some meaningful thoughts to the thread that nobody had brought up. Also, about things that weren't in that forum that could be quite useful for football. Did go rather often to that forum myself. Did try to add some stuff but am unable for a number of reasons to post a lot of what I use.

Seems to me many here don't post much at all about anything gambling related.

Maybe many that gamble might improve their success a great deal if they had more of an open mind about gaming of any type (and/or methods that might help).

I have been around for 5 yrs. I quit going to the NFL forum mid season last year because there are way too many random people, who dont know a thing about handicapping, spewing out bogus advice and giving picks. Are there any real handicappers left??? Most of the old school guys are gone.. and there are so many new people it is hard to tell if any of them are any good. The forum is pages and pages of people who sign up and post picks for a week or two and then disappear. Trying to wade through the forum looking for someone who actually knows what they are talking about Vs some random schmuck is almost an impossible task. Finding someone who post their record and is a consistent winner is like finding a needle in a haystack.
If at all possible. Rank those who are posting picks and who keep an accurate record. Those with the best records should have their threads pushed to the top.

Just a thought... but i can tell you this.. This might be my last year at madjacks...something has to be done with the NFL forum. It is so chaotic..

Congrats on the highest site traffic of any gambling forum.. but at what price??

IE's talking about the matchup forum, not the regular NFL forum.

reading the match ups are fun ,
but in (my opinion) not much help. we can get TONS of info on all games ! ....only problem is vegas has more !

I usually do well in foots.. +90 units last year and i dont call myself a handicapper .. couple rules i go by..

1. stay away from the big games,, vegas picks them apart..
2. stay away top ten team .. vegas knows public love them..
3. get opening line sunday night .. and closing line sunday morning . the game with the biggest line moves i pick from(usually 5 to 7 )
4. the hard part ... try to figure out which line moved was by the sharpie's or just vegas wanting us to think that !
5. look for vegas signs .. like the all the pay cappers game of years , its a great way to get public on wrong side.. watch for weird posts.. like someone has hit 18 games in a row and his next game is dallas ... fade.. read between the lines...

the best tool a guy could have is to find which line moved without big money on it .. vegas trap ! .. my guess about 4 to 7 a week ..

i alway keep in mind vegas know what we know about any game and the use that to thier advanage..

yeah i sound like a crack pot ...
but i have a shoebox of the books cash !! g/l
