12 Team Playoff:

5-12 play week #1
1-4 bye

Winners play top 4 week #2:

Use the remaining teams for Bowl games. This way we still get to watch ND play at Hawaii.

Some years a playoff makes sense...some years doesnt. In 2005 should USC and Texas have had to win another game or two to play each other?

Maybe not, but asking 2005 USC/Texas or 2002 OSU/Miami to win their bowl game and one more to make the title game is a small price to pay for the many, many years where there is no clear cut #1 and #2.

I'd really like to see no more than 8 teams go. It keeps the regular season so important but gives pretty much everyone a shot. If you go unbeaten, no matter who you are, your going to be in that top 8.

As far as making teams play extra games....no one seemed to care that New England had to win 3 games after going 16-0. The most dominant team ever and they didn't get the title, even after beating the team that beat them for the title just a month earlier.

Really....so you would have had an 8 team playoff that included Utah, Boise and (potentially) Ball State, only one of which was in BCS top 8? WHo you leaving home?
