Check out the video. He dunks, then gets a technical for taunting.....if that is fucking taunting, I don't understand the rule. Wow, I feel bad for this kid. I love seeing idiots get punished, but this is pushing it too far. Yes, he already had one tech on him and needed to be careful, but if you can't look back after dunking, jeez.

Tough call. The quick turn and look at the defender could be looked as a in your face taunt. It was a quick wistle.

Bad call for sure., but not a big deal under normal circumstances. In this case, the questionable call hurts the team's opportunity to win a title and takes away the kid's shot to play for it all. That is lame. Poor job by ref.

He's not in ANYONES space or face. Could easily be argued he is just getting back on D and was correctly taught to never lose sight of the ball.

What a freakin joke.

COULD have been a very bad call of judgement by the official, or it may be an outright planned way to take the kid outta the mix, I cannot tell from the video, I will watch it some more later, we also do not know what the points of emphasis for the season are, and trust me they have them, thus the officials are looking at certain things under a very close scrutiny !

The worst thing an official can do in my opinion is be too lax in protecting the intigrity of the game, thus allowing tempers to flare and risk or actually lose control of the game.

Sportsmanship needs to be taught at all levels and athletic achievement is not to be followed up by one upmanship and or showboating on the court.

This is high school ball, correct, not the NBA, and the event of a taunting stare-down does appear to be a distinct possibility on this video.

You have got to remember that many of these calls boil down to judgement.

I invite any and all of you to got to the classes, learn the rules from the point of enforcement by the official on the court and if you think you are good enough work your way up the ranks to the Varisty level and the better guys in stripes will replace the poor ones in time.

I made my contribution to the youth of central Ohio, and many others have also, it is a thankless endevour some of the time, but a fully rewarding one most of the time. Some of my best memories are the time I spent working with other gentlemen as an official and 90% plus of the coaches support the efforts of the officials. The kids are great too, I still remember a little girl when I first started and was working third grade league standing out of bounds with the ball and asking "Sir what do I do now?" She had about the same amount of experience playing as I did officiating :)

I have officiated games for youth leagues and the parents suck and I want to hit them. Hard.

at face value it looks bad, but who knows what was going on the whole game if that was seen as a taunt or something.

Reminded me of a story this past fall about a h.s. QB who celebrated by raising his hand towards the end of a TD run in a playoff game. Can't remember if he was suspended for the next game or what happened, but it essentially cost his team a chance at a championship.

I worked one game where my partner gave the coach of one of the teams his second "T" and ejected him and the parents of both teams applauded it :0074

Yes, some parents are over the top, I always ignored them, I have seen a parent that was totally innocent tossed by an official in a game I was a spectator at, one of my children was playing and he left not being able to see his daughter play the rest of the game due to a inept official tossing him. The deputy was there to enforce the removal and he left peacefully. I did make it a point to advise the association president of the situation. Another parent in the stands was guilty but he shut up once the boot was applied to the incorrect parent:facepalm:
