Best thing ever.

I'm sold.


With our new addition to the family, now 4 members strong, my monthly premiums are $1,420!!! That's 17k per year on PREMIUMS.

No wonder no one can afford healthcare in this country :scared

Family of 5 here.

With maternity package included, we pay $612 per month with $5000 MAX out of pocket.

So total absolute max for our healthcare spend (including advil, prescriptions, doctor, hospital, etc) is $12,344. That's EVERYTHING.

Saint, mine just changed this year and can roll over any money I didn't use...up until this year I had to guess and come up with a number as close as possible so I wouldn't lose any money...Really enjoy the roll over part..Gl

are you guys going to be able to keep those accts under the new healthcare law?...will they be altered?...

undetermined if these plans will stay; proof that they are the best deal for consumers

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking at. 5450 deductible, with maternity rider was around 600 and change per month with the ability to put in 6100 or something like that tax deferred.

I have one and agree with the others about the tax savings part. For many it is hard to swallow the high deductible part, but when you look at the plan in entirety it is a very logical choice. Will be shame if they do away with these type of plans/accounts moving forward.

Jinx - are you sure you aren't talking about a FSA? In an HSA the $ is yours no matter what. If someone took away your $ at the end of the year, you were robbed.

They will probably do away with them because the majority of people who get HSAs are healthy, and the insurance companies don't like to lose the healthy people from their pools because there is no offset for the costs of high utilization people.

So i'm sure the lobbyists will get them removed .

A buddy of mine that lives in Boston pays $2200 a month for a family of 4, ridiculous!:scared

His company more than likely moved from an FSA to an HSA.

I believe it is $5800 for couple/family. That may have been bumped up since I last checked, though.

$3,050 for singles
$6,150 for families

Catch-up contributions are allowed for individuals over 55.

Our company actually matches employee contributions and sometimes makes discretionary contributions to employee HSA accounts. We have made a conscience effort to steer employees to this type of plan. In the long run it has helped keep the insurance costs for employees and the company down.

I'm looking into offering it for my employees. I'd love to be able to provide some help with insurance but it's so damn expensive for a small business.

Saint - I am looking at the packages now to offer my employees as well.

I want to put a set contribution per employee towards HSA plan. If you are single, and your premium is lower than this then the addition would go in your savings account.

I don't know the legality of this, though, and will be talking to the professionals later this week.
