Thanks for the info, Poon!

Saint - I am looking at the packages now to offer my employees as well.

I want to put a set contribution per employee towards HSA plan. If you are single, and your premium is lower than this then the addition would go in your savings account.

I don't know the legality of this, though, and will be talking to the professionals later this week.

That's how a few of my colleagues have it set up. It's either a set contribution, or if they opt out because a spouse has coverage then it's added income. That was it's fair/consistent across the board for employees.

What company are you fellas using? I have a PPO plan through health america. Just found out my monthly premium has been raised to $1500 and change from $1200 effective next month.
This (health insurance) is by far the biggest drawback of being self employed. That 15-18 grand that goes poof every year to carry around the insurance card in my wallet is a bit disheartening.

Check with Assurant Health, they have very nice HSA employer group plans. Also if you have enough employees you can offer more then one plan. So, you could have an HSA for those that want it and a more traditional plan for those who don't

Boys not much of network here.

I really liked company when it was John Aden--hate them now and refuse to write for them. I had trucking company--about 25 employees -on HSA with them. Owners wife had cancer and they increased rates bout 90% over 2 year period. I will never write another group for them.

Mostly BC BS in Ky and Tn---Use UHC-Humana mostly if someone has a prob with BC BS.

Rates are pretty comparable --mostly a network issue. Blue card is pretty strong in this area. Can't hardly get out of network.

I shouldn't have been that negative on Assurant --as I am sure different regions are different in administration -so my bad.

Its just that John Alden was one of my favs especially liked their 1 person true group for self employed/farmers that when change was made I was upset. Diff between them was like night and day here.
