Two rival Texas teams play on the National Stage tonight and I was bored so started looking at things a little closer. Here's the thing, Lobos are on a 18 game win streak and have won the State 6A D2 Texas Championship in 2018. If there is one player to watch this afternoon, it's the HC John Kings kid QB Haynes King who is headed to Texas A&M and has accounted for 4,500 Total yards of Off w/50 TDs. Only 4 Off Starters return to the Lobos and 4 Def Starters too. Although it would appear that the cupboard is a tad bare, I think you will see a reload of talent tonight and after Lobos manhandled rival Marshall last week (53-0) I expect more of the same in this game.
John Tyler has started 0-2 which is a bit of a surprise since the Lions return 5 Off Starters and 8 Def Starters from a 10-3 program, so what the hell is going on? Lions have some D1 talent and Sr Kitan Crawford (Texas commit) is going to have to be accounted for but the Def is struggling and has given up avr 36.5 yards pg....... There is definitely some talent here but seems to be a disconnect between players and coaches and while I think they can hang for a while, I look for Longview to put up a fairly big number.
Last week, Lobos beat Marshall 53-0 but what isn't mentioned is that Lobos only had 1 Offensive series in the first quarter, because Marshall game plan was to milk the play clock down to the 1 sec snap........ It worked by keeping the lethal offense off the field but despite scoring 0 points in the 1st quarter, Lobos got back into the act by special teams and posted 53 points in final 3 quarters....... Unless John Tyler implements the same game plan and mentality in National TV, I think this one gets out of hand, and perhaps Lobos cover the total by themselves.......... Gl
