Anyway - this is a commentary about hunters.

A guy in my office has a "kill book" he got mad today when I said what he did was easy since he used a camera and a scoped rifle.

He believes he is a skilled hunter and a true outdoorsman. Just because you use a propane stove and kill animals doesn't make you Bear Grylls.

I am fine with killing deer with a high powered rifle and using a camera with an automatic feeder if you understand that you aren't hunting shit and you're about as skilled of an outdoorsman as Stephen Hawking. It's like Bleeding said they're "slaughtering" them you dumb fucking hayseeds.

What does a camera have to do with anything:shrug: I do not us a feeder but do use a scope. I have never pretended to be Daniel Boone, but if you think it is as easy as just going out with you scoped rifle and slaughtering deer then you are just wrong. I have no problem with those that "arent hunters", but you obviously do not understand how me and all other hunters I associate with feel about the outdoors and why we enjoy "hunting". I put that in quotes because to me and everyone else I hunt with, it is not about the kill, but about the camaraderie and work it takes to take a truly mature deer. You are right that anybody can take a young deer (especially if they us a feeder), but you couldnt be more wrong about the ease of taking a mature deer that has managed to survive for 5+ years. Just so you know, a mature deer is not going to come close to that feeder in daylight hours and open themselves up to prey. I hate those that give us a bad name as well, but to lump "hunters" into the group that you described does a disservice to myself and all those that I associate with. I do not expect you or others to understand what hunting or being an outdoorsman means to me, but I would at least hope that people could understand that most(at least all that I have had experience with) are not what you describe or are obviously trying to portray. BTW I still dont understand what a camera has to do with anything:shrug:

You can kill a doe if you have the tag to do so. The does have to be be thinned out as well to control the population. Some very good eating.

I would prefer a doe for eating, in Northwest WI deer are over populated, shooting big bucks is common for the novice of deer hunter. Bow hunting is tons more challenging. My best friend's son shot a 11 pointer on Saturday.

Really? You're the hunter and you don't know? Shouldn't a hunter be able to track a deer instead of placing a camera and checking it every so often to see if their are any around?

It is easy to shoot and kill a deer WITH a rifle. That's my point. I know it's not walk out in the woods and there's a bunch of deer.

To take a mature deer using "technology" using cameras and feeders is fine. Just don't think you are a true outdoorsman and hunter. You using a scoped rifle is not not hunting either. That part is too easy. It's simple to aim and pull a trigger. Like I said a five year old can do it.

Bottom line is this - I do know that it is difficult to hunt a deer without feeders, cameras and scoped rifles. So that is my point - bows seem to be the only way to truly hunt (even then technology has made that easier).

I am speaking mostly of the co-worker who brought in his brag book. and he is a douche because he uses feeders, cameras and high-powered scoped rifles.
